"good rope bag but it depends on your needs" 11/28/10
as a hybrid rope bag / backpack, this one is pretty good. but as with most hybrids, it does both duties well but does neither of them great. the problem is, if you want a simple rope bag to throw into a another pack, the straps are superfluous and the material is tougher than it needs to be (translation: heavier than it needs to be). on the other hand, if you plan to use it as your one backpack for all your stuff, it needs to be packed very carefully (easy at home but annoying in the field) and it's not nearly as comfortable as a regular pack. especially when carrying 20+lbs.
"Bomb Proof Bag" 11/28/09
Can things get any better. Super durable and the room is great. large enough to fit my 60m rope and shoes and some select gear. The Straps are nice on those short hikes in. Wish the straps had a little more padding but those are my little gripes.
"Every rope should have a home like this" 09/07/08
Very versatile rope bag. Great from trunk to gym or short hikes to the crag. The buckles can dig in your back when hiking for too long, but drop this in your haul bag, and your rope stays organized and easy to access. Huge tarp is perfect for keeping your shoes clean while tying in.
"I've seen no better rope bag in this price range." 08/25/08
The large integrated tarp is great for keeping my rope clean when belaying, the large capacity allows me to stow some extra gear along with my 50m rope. I think it is well engineered the cinch straps are great, the backpack straps are not awkward for me as some reviews led me to believe they could be, and I think it is durable enough to give me years of trouble free use!
"Decent bag for the price, but not without issues." 04/21/08
The bag is made of tough material, holds my 60m rope and other gear just fine, and is priced relatively well compared to other rope bags, but there are some issues. The way the shoulder straps are attached seems backwards to me. The tightening straps, which on a book bag are tightened by pulling down, are flipped, so you have to pull UP to tighten them. they're also connected very close together, making the bag ride high on your back, and there's no chest strap to spread the weight out, resulting in some discomfort after a longer hike. The drawstring is lighter duty than I would have preferred as well. For the price it's a good bag, but not great.
"Super-durable, awesome bag. Straps leave something to be desired, but this is the best I've used." 04/17/08
This bag is definitely built to last. The nylon and especially the aluminum buckles are burly! Having two straps is very nice, too I never understood why other rope baga only have one strap - all of that off-center weight hurts your neck after hiking a mile to get to a climb!. I do wish the straps were a bit nicer, though.
"A must buy if you own a rope." 01/18/08
This rope bag is huge. There is even extra room to throw in your quickdraws w/in the rope if you are so lazy and just want to bring your rope bag to the crag. The rope bag is sturdy and you can even put it in the wash if it gets too dirty or spells really bad.
