"work of art" 01/23/12
I bought these to complement the decor in my condo, but as luck would have it, they are a ball to use. I enjoy pull-ups on them much more than my hangboard, and find them handy for everything from dead hangs, to impromptu pull-up contests with visitors, to swinging around my living room, to getting inverted so I can get a headrush. Only beef is that Metolius overestimates the pocket sizes: they aren't 4, 4, and 3 finger pockets unless you stack fingers. More like 4, 3, 2.....but a better workout I guess!
"Great for small spaces" 01/15/12
Great for small spaces such as apartments since you can hang it off a pullup bar, playground, or tree branch. I use to maintain sloper and pocket strength, as well as, doing pullups and ab workouts. The 10-minute workout that's included & online will kick your butt.
"These are great, especially for tight spaces." 10/25/11
My friend has a set of these in his dorm room, tied to the under-frame of his lofted bed. That kind of epitomizes how great these are. The option of mounting them with screws or using the (supplied) rope is nice. Also, they work great for practicing a few types of holds. You can use the sides (or front/back) to practice your pinches, the 3 different slots are machined at different depths for strengthening different parts of your fingers at different difficulties, and the top provides an area for working your upper body.Unless you can hit a wall or the gym every day, these should really have a place in your room of choice as well.
"Really fun, great for training" 10/23/11
These rock rings are a great way for training in your home or if travelling. They are also really fun. They can be easily attached to a pull up bar and work great training forearm muscles. However, I think that a hangboard may be better for climbing specific training. The rock rings do have their own strenghs too though.
"Good Supplement" 10/16/11
I am in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed in Japan when I bought these. Because I had no access to climbing or going to a gym these worked out great! They may not be quite as good as the Metolius hang board but they are none-the-less effective. I hear they are good for you elbows to while doing pull ups. At the very least these will be a good supplement to your workout routine.
"These are a great training tool, and everyone should have a set." 10/03/11
After using the ones my gym has I have finally bought a set for myself. These things are great, they work some stabilizer muscles that you can't work with a hangboard. They have helped build my finger strength and endurance. Their are a great deal of exercises you can do on these and they are great to keep your strength up while traveling, when you can't get to the gym for a couple weeks. They set up pretty much anywhere you can hang them. Price was competitive.
"Great Buy! Allows creativity!" 09/22/11
These rock rings are most fantastic. The finger pockets are solid and allow you to really emphasize how you want to work on your fingers. They have helped me develop one-armed pull ups! I have a bunjee cord attached to both loops of the rock rings and slung over a tree branch- allowing liberated movement and perhaps a harder workout. This also means that you can take it on the go! I just bought a second set- I'm hoping to make a little swinging route on my tree. These rock rings really give you plenty of opportunity to exercise creativity, a solid work out (core, abs, back, shoulders, etc) , and are also conveniently travel-friendly. A great buy.
"Great for contact strength & abs" 08/22/11
so 10 minutes on this bad-boy will get you exhausted, especially your abs, the L-Hangs are a killer. These are great if you have to travel & don't have access to a climbing gym, or cliff since all you need is somewhere to hang these from, like a pullup bar or tree branch. my project is surely going down b/c of these! The Simulator is awesome as well, I have the older version.
