Great pad for the moneyThis a great pad for the money. It is a good size, big enough to feel confident when up high but still easy to pack. I love the Velcro system to connect the sections, not as safe a foam but better than most hinge designs. The pad is easy to move around with the briefcase handles although somewhat difficult on the ground due to a lack of side handles. The foam is a little softer than black diamonds impact pad but I haven't been to afraid of bottoming out. All in all if you are new to bouldering and looking for a single pad this one isn't half bad.

Good, maybe could be better?Pros: I like this pads trifold design, makes trekking through scrub brush much easier. I also like the large footprint. Bigger than my standard metolius bifold. Feels like standard metolius quality build. I also like the large over the top/bottom strap, just like the magnum has, makes strapping together two pads as one backpack a breeze.
Cons: I wish each fold had an angle as sharp (acute) as the old bifold pad, I'm alittle concerned I might put an ankle through the gap. Metolius has put a large seem of velcro to help prevent this but you have to pull back a flap and revelcro it each time you use it and pack it up. Kinda a hassle that had a simpler solution. Other thing I would say is that a lot of different manufacturers pads have similar dimensions when folded up, this makes for easy staking in a trunk or the roof. With the trifold design this one is longer but narrower than most, making roof staking a bit of a challenge.

This Pad Rocks It!The tri-fold allows a larger surface area for those unexpected take downs; it's pack harness makes hauling it simple and efficient even for a 5'2" 105lb chick! Extra storage area allows for shoes, chalk bag, keys and more. Top notch materials keep it standing up to the tough terrain - climb on with safety, security and comfort with this bad boy!

nice padThis is a great pad. When I was praticing boldering I offcourse fall but i know that my partner it there with the crash pad and then I knew I was safe
What is the use of a crash pad? And is the downtime for renewal of energy or a safe landing?

Hiya! Thanks for the question! A Crash Pad reduces the chance of injury from a fall when bouldering or climbing in rocky or unstable areas. They also protect against long-term damage to the knee, foot and ankle joints, which can result from repeated falls. Hope this helps!
