I crash on this not just at the craig. After about a month of taking falls on this pad it became quite a comfortable craiging bed (my wife disagrees, she thinks it is a little to firm.) I know of a couple who used this pad as their home mattress for a couple of months.,,For itâs size the pad transports nicely and rides rather high when carried on oneâs back. This is great for scrambling across boulders at J-Tree but not so great when bushwhacking through southern california chaparral, since you get caught on sh... stuff.,,The way the pad unfolds reduces the chance of rocks finding your foot through the fold, which was more likely with the previous model. The little piece of carpet attached to the pad is great for wiping off sand

The MAGNUM, by MetoliusThis pad is built well and does the job. To be honest if your favorite Boulder isn't far from your camp or vehicle this pad will do the trick and cover a large surface area. If I've done my research correctly, this is the largest pad available. Not the thickest though. So as for the reasoning behind a short trip to your Boulder: the suspension straps almost suck, the waist belt, I mean large piece of webbing with a buckle sucks big time and is probably the worst feature. But all and all this pad does the trick for large surface area and relaibility.

It's BIG!If you want some serious Square Footage... this one is for you... works good for resting on it, but not a camping matt... very firm foam (I'm a big boy 225lbs and can't bottom it out), yet thin design for squeezing through Hueco Tanks narrow hidden passages (The Garden)... convenient storage pocket for shoes, chalk, and snack. ,,,,Bottom Line, good construction, good area coverage, but a bit heavy. I like it! Makes me feel safe! :) your spotter wont have to constantly be shoving the pad around.
