These have quickly become one of my go to pieces of gear. They are nice and light and work well on long trad routes. Some may prefer alpine slings for this, but I always prefer the look of a qd through a piece of gear instead of dental floss slings. As others have mentioned, the rubber stabilizers are not the best and two were broken when they arrived. However, I have not noticed a significant decrease in functionality due to this.
Like you have read in other reviews, these quickdraws are really light therefore maximizing your ability to climb comfortably and rapidly. One great feature is the little dip on the bottom biner to hold your rope in place. At first I was a little worried about this product not being as good as I would hope, but when they came I headed up a 5.10 route and they worked liked a charm. I recommend these to anyone looking to buy them. Great for any experience level. Well, what are you still doing reading reviews? Buy them already!!!
"Good and light. 7in draw tends to twist. The rubber biner stay breaks easy."
Ok. First off... They are light as heck. I had all 15 of them on my harness the other day for a 31m route and they didn't weigh me down. The gates are just right for clipping in. Now for the bad. When I received these from MJ, many of the rubber biner stays were already broken when I pulled them out of the box. It seems that the rubber is just cheep. Makes it annoying when a biner is flipped. Also, the material the biners are made out of shows wear fast. Other then that.. I like them
I prefer the posiwire quickdraws over the double wire. I find that i feel more secure on a posiwire draw more so than on this one. It is a steady quickdraw but for the money i would rather have a black diamond.
I have been using these draws for a few years now and they are working really well. They clip really well and feel really light compared to anything BD makes. I think a bent gate would clip easier and the longer slings do twist a little. Absolutely would recommend these to a friend.
I love how smooth the gate feels when clipping. It makes a huge difference when you're stressing right at the crux move. I've got several other draws and carabiners, and these are by far the smoothest opening. I also really like the different colors for the rope end and the bolt end. I got 10 of the 7-inch length because I think they're more versatile than the 5-inch, and I'm thinking of ordering 5 more just to have for longer routes so I don't have to carry a mix of other draws. Lightweight for the size, and made by Metolius so you know they're bomber.
