Great product. Feels bomber while belaying and rappelling. Very happy with the product except for sizing. I was right on the line between a small and a medium. I chose to go with the small and I regret it. Luckily it fits my gf's hands perfectly and I ordered a medium for myself.Only dislike...It took a long time to soften up and get comfortable. I used a baseball glove trick of wrapping it up tight with rubber bands.
I prefer using fingerless gloves when belaying/rappelling. I feel like I have more control of the rope and dont run the risk of rope burn, I also prefer the functionality of fingerless. I would use framers or weightlifting gloves, but would wear through a couple pairs a season. I broke down and spent the extra cash on these puppies and could not be happier. The materials are thick and durable and will take more beatings then my cheaper substitutes. Overall it is well worth the price to have a good durable pair of gloves.
Use em mainly for belay. But I think they would also be great for rappell. Solid stitching, great leather, maybe waterproof these suckas if you're doing keeper pots? I dunno, good glove if your handsies need em.
I planned on only using these for belay and when I tried them on they fit somewhat large, but I think that they wonderful for my use of them. I'm going to be using them for rappelling as well as belaying. Overall they seem to be great quality. I recommend waterproofing them...
I worked at a adventure park this summer as a climbing instructor and there would be those days where I would belay 200-300 people and with out this glove the rope would probably would have burned through my hand by the of the day. Even better they held up all summer long and i will still have much more life out of them.
Bought these for my fiance so she can belay me and other friends with ease. She doesn't complain about her hands turning black or burning when letting me down from the climb anymore. She loves the being able to use the tips of her fingers because she feels more comfortable feeling the rope and gri-gri when she is belaying. The hooks on the gloves are also excellent for clipping the gloves onto a draw so you can use it to belay down to clean the route you're using. She says her hands don't hurt anymore when she rappels down.

I really like Metolius products, but feel like this particular product had some bad stitching on the pinky finger of the gloves. The seam on the gloves just cut into the skin on my last finger during heavy use. I would not recommend this glove to anyone who has small hands. I have several climbing friends with bigger hands that really like the product, so it is probably just a sizing issue. Make sure to try the product on before buying.
