I've heard lots of stories about teachers throwing chalk at kids in class, but I've never actually seen it happen. No one I know has ever seen it or been the target of a teacher-chalk-missile either, so I'm beginning to believe it never happens. If you've ever had a teach throw chalk at you, please write a book detailing the harrowing ordeal so I can learn how these things really go down.

Oh, if you're here to buy the Metolius Block of Rock Climbing Chalk, keep reading.

FEATURES of the Metolius Block Chalk

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap reliable chalk in a beautiful...block shape. Did I mention it's cheap? It's chalk, so you're not going to save the bank by buying more on the $ end than the $$$$, but you could save those pennies up for...a new protection rack if you use enough chalk. Anyway, it's a block of chalk, you can break it up as you want to whatever consistency you like it. What's more fun than blowing off steam crushing little white powder? Well...lots of things, and if you have lots of those things available to you you should probably just get pre-ground chalk to save some time, but otherwise no complaints. Fill a sock, dump it in a bag, eat it for breakfast, rub some on your face for those chin-hooks you're practicing, it will work for all of that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for broke climbing addicts I bought a few blocks for my girlfriend and I to use for outdoors. The price is a definite upside, costing almost nothing for 2 oz of the stuff. You can break it up to your preference, which can be an upside or a downside: you can make it whatever consistency you like, but it takes a bit of work whenever you need more chalk. My girlfriend hates doing it and is convinced that her "White Gold" is better, but I personally derive satisfaction... like popping bubble-wrap.,,,,Overall: a good option for broke climbers who go through chalk like mad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Get it. Definitely !! if you climb or boulder, you will go through chalk pretty quick and this budget chalk does its job absolutely amazingly. ,,,,PS: MJ should do a better job packing this with other products since the stock packaging is pretty flimsy and can open, and will definitely break all over the other stuff in the package. How about putting this in a taped polythene bag before shipping? less than a cent and wont make other stuff messy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great chalk. Great price. Great chalk. Great price. As someone with sweaty hands who climbs indoors a good deal I actually prefer this chalk to the Metolius Super Chalk. Maybe I'm as crazy as those Moosejaw folks because a lot of people seem to think breaking up chalk is hard work and a huge pain. But with both loose chalk and a chalk sock in my bag I find it keeps itself broken up into small enough chunks and dust. Plus you can't argue with the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap, does the trick. This chalk is amazing. I got the block for $1.15, and I'm hardly halfway through it, and its been a week or two of climbing. It's sticky (you know what I mean), keeps your hands dry, everything good chalk should do. I like it cause you get the huge chunks of chalk in your bag you can crunch up with your fingers when you're trying to chalk up, gets it coated on the fingers really well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Way better than loose chalk or chalk balls Best think about chalk blocks is the low-level of dust, and the chance to break it up during use. It can be super annoying at crowded crags on a windy day to have dust flying up around your head as you reach for a tricky hold. If you are reaching for chalk and seriously on the edge, chalk balls just won't cut it. Switch to the block, and you won't go back to handling messy balls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, cheap chalk I too prefer this to the broken up chalk such as the Super Chalk, BD White Gold, etc. I sweat quite a bit when I'm climbing and this definitely works great and as good as the others in my opinion. ,,,,One thing to note is that it comes in 2 oz. blocks and doesn't weigh a pound which I thought was a bit confusing by the description. ,,,,Anyway, good stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for bouldering I originally bought a few of these for bouldering. I kept the block as a whole and rubbed my finger tips and palms instead of dipping my hand into my bag constantly. Then a chunk of it broke off and i discovered that it's also amazing for my bag. I love this chalk so much i'm about to buy 15 of them with the $20 MooseJaw just gave me for being awesome.
