Great gloves. I own two pairs, actually - this full-fingered pair and a pair of the fingerless ones, both of which are my go-to gloves for big wall or rescue rope work. The leather is very soft and flexible, but extremely durable. The loop at the base of the palm is a attachment point if you need to clip your gloves to a harness. I trust it. For a thick leather glove, you have good tactile sensation through the fingertips. I have long, skinny fingers. Most leather gloves are too baggy around my fingers, but these conform well. My only complaint is that where the leather is sewn together on the top of the fingers can pinch a little bit and be uncomfortable for the first few weeks of use.

The stitching on the left little finger is poorly placed. I have to place a piece of medical tape on my finger to avoid a nasty abrasion from the placement of the seam. I has able to soften the other seams with leather conditioner but that one is just screwed up. I recommend them only for casual hikers and suggest carefully trying them on in the store first
These gloves are very very durable and useful. Not only are they those two things but these believe it or not are very warm. best gloves ever!!!!!!!! period!!!!!!!!!!!

Used these for the first time this last weekend, and all I can say is WOW! I was teaching my small group from church how to rappel and everyone kept using my gloves instead of the extra pair and they stood up to the abuse. So buy a pair you wont be disappointed!
really nice gloves, for the limited time i got to use them. The first time i got to use these was three pitches up in Eldo. I had lead the first three and dropped one of the gloves. Never recovered it and never felt like being a member of the Jackson family with the one glove and all. I just decided to go back to not wearing gloves while on belay. So if you need gloves for belaying or cowboying and the such, yeah these are pretty cool
These gloves are strong and fit great. The first time I put them on, I felt like I should be driving a Porsche. They feel great and meet an important purpose.
I'm a Chicago Fire Fighter and I use to use these gloves for ropes only... but now I find myself using them for everything from bedding hose to vehicle extrications... I know thats not what they were designed for but they fit nice and snug and gives me an excellent grasp on things.
my only gripe is these get all dirty because I forget I have them on so forget to take them off after a rappel so end up climbing around with them. They're great and fit well.
these are great gloves, However, the sizes are a bit deceiving, if you think your a medium, check a small. great heat resistance, dexterity and comfort!
