Rated 4 out of 5 by from Soft and Durable Great gloves. I own two pairs, actually - this full-fingered pair and a pair of the fingerless ones, both of which are my go-to gloves for big wall or rescue rope work. The leather is very soft and flexible, but extremely durable. The loop at the base of the palm is a attachment point if you need to clip your gloves to a harness. I trust it. ,,For a thick leather glove, you have good tactile sensation through the fingertips. I have long, skinny fingers. Most leather gloves are too baggy around my fingers, but these conform well. ,,My only complaint is that where the leather is sewn together on the top of the fingers can pinch a little bit and be uncomfortable for the first few weeks of use. ,,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from size experiment Every glove I have is a medium that fits well to perfect, except the Belay glove. I have a medium and a small,
The Metolius Belay Medium is too large and loose; I use it with a liner glove when using trekking poles in winter. By itself the Belay is cold, with the liner it's warmer but bulky. The extra palm and thumb padding is perfect for the poles - no wear. Aa appropriate, recommended use.
The small Belay is a tight fit, just what I want with a rope. Highly recommended use.
My advice is to order two sizes and return the one that doesn't fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from pretty damn cool really nice gloves, for the limited time i got to use them. The first time i got to use these was three pitches up in Eldo. I had lead the first three and dropped one of the gloves. Never recovered it and never felt like being a member of the Jackson family with the one glove and all. I just decided to go back to not wearing gloves while on belay. So if you need gloves for belaying or cowboying and the such, yeah these are pretty cool

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A quality glove that holds up to abuse. I used to be on a high angle rescue team, and I never used gloves for belaying. However, I'm now a wildland firefighter on a hotshot crew and found the best gloves ever. These gloves hold up to months of working with tools, moving brush and playing with fire. On top of it the loops work great for keeping the gloves on a carabiner. So if you need gloves for climbing I guarantee these with hold up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comments about Metolius Rock Climbing Glove The stitching on the left little finger is poorly placed. I have to place a piece of medical tape on my finger to avoid a nasty abrasion from the placement of the seam. I has able to soften the other seams with leather conditioner but that one is just screwed up. I recommend them only for casual hikers and suggest carefully trying them on in the store first

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much more durable than nonspecific gloves. I have been using these for canyoneering when the rope is wet and gritty. Or when the rope is hot and dry and I'm glad I bought them. I feel much more secure doing free hanging rappels with these. Yes, a pair of leather gloves from somewhere else would work for a few rappels, but these have been used a dozen times and look brand new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like'em I'm a Chicago Fire Fighter and I use to use these gloves for ropes only... but now I find myself using them for everything from bedding hose to vehicle extrications... I know thats not what they were designed for but they fit nice and snug and gives me an excellent grasp on things.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good glove if you dont have rediculously long fingers like me This glove sturdy and well made, but just not for me. My hands are not big, but I have long fingers. The mediums are too loose, but the right length. The smalls feel good, but the fingers are too short. I guess I'll just have to try the fingerless version of this glove.
