I love these boots. They are super comfortable and provide my ankles with the support they need out on the trail. Crossed a few streams while hiking in the Smokies and my feet didn't get wet at all. The soles are super grippy and I didn't feel like I was losing traction on any of the wet rocks on the trails. Be sure to wear them around the house with your hiking socks to make sure that they fit your feet well before heading out on the trail- blisters and sore feet certainly don't add to the beauty of nature!
These boots are durable, very waterproof, and even fashionable. They don't scream, "hiking boot!" when they're under a good jean. They support my ankles pretty well while hiking, but my complaint is that the top of the boot rubs my ankles all the way around the back. I end up with a sore red spot, even through my hiking socks. They aren't my favorite hiking boots, but they get the job done.
Overall nice boot, good grip, sturdy, great at keeping your feet dry and aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately, they ended up giving me very odd bruises/blisters on both of my big toes. At first I thought that I just needed to break them in, but this effect never lessened. They felt good in the store, but ended up becoming very uncomfortable in the long run. My advice? Wear them around the house for a couple of days to see if they are truly a good fit before wearing them outside. I ended up being very disappointed.
i have 3 pairs of merrells, together they have 15+ years on them and they are ALL still wearable and comfortable. i've gone through a series of "waterproof" shoes and none are reliable and long lasting as merrell. while other ankle height boots tend to make my ankles sore, these don't. enough flexibility to not feel like bricks on my feet but stable enough to prevent injuries. layer thick socks in the winter and your toes will be fine!
I have had these boots for two years and they are still comfortable and waterproof! I have taken them all over the world and asked more out of these boots than any other gear I own and they are still going strong.
I upgraded to these shoes from a pair of hiking tennis shoes. All I can say is, "huge improvement!" I love these boots, they feel like a glove and the extra padding inside is great after a long day on the trail. The Vibram soles flex with your step and make your stride very natural. Wore these for two weeks straight without any blisters or sore spots. Definitely recommend!
I bought these boot for some hiking in Moab (funny coincidence). I didn't have time to break them in before putting some miles on them, but found them pretty comfortable for most of the day. They also allow your feet to breathe while working up a sweat which helps your feet stay comfortable.
I normally have to go with a Keene because I have fairly wide feet (not like circus wide, just not narrow) but these fit really well. They also do a good job of keeping my feet dry and not sweaty, which I appreciate. They've held up well so far, and i'd say I love them if they were cuter, but hey, I don't need everything.
