"Perfect For Canoeing" 05/27/13
Took these out for 30 days in Canada of some rugged canoeing and portaging. These boots work great for canoeing. They provide enough ankle support for portaging a canoe over head, but enough drainage to where I could push off and not worry about trench foot. They dry fairly well if they're left in the sun at least better than other boots that I have used. No blister concerns and no breaking in concerns. The one worry was one of the plastic supporters in the heel came out, but that was after a burley 5 mile portage thats over grown with trees and things. It's never been a concern for me before and I've used these shoes countless times. They're great I prefer the hightop ones, but that's personal preference. I would recommend these for light hiking, canoeing, day hikes, and day trips. These shouldn't be used for too serious of backpacking our mountaineering.
"Great shoe!" 01/03/13
As the director of an Adventure Challenge program, I am walking on wooded trails and high rope cables 3-4 days a week, spring-fall. My first pair of Ventilators lasted 5 years. I still wear them, but the tread is worn down pretty thin. When I went to backpack Isle Royale National Park a few years ago, I decided last minute to ditch the heavy hiking boots and wear my Vents instead. Since that time, they're all I wear on the trails, unless I'm expecting snow or deep "muck" during the rainy season. GREAT SHOE!
"Comfy and well made" 09/05/12
I bought these shoes, somewhat on a whim, a few weeks before I had to go out to California to film a race. In the few days I was out there, I really put these shoes to the test: climbing up a mountain, sliding down a gravel hill a few times (even when I wasn't trying), and sprinting from the photographer area to the winners podium. After all was said and done, my feet were a little sore but if it weren't for these bad boys I wouldn't have been walking.
"Very comfortable but fall apart very quickly." 08/23/12
They are extremely comfortable and my feet feel good in them. But after about 100 miles my first pair's sole started coming off the shoe on both. So i contacted merrell and they had me send my pair in and they sent me a brand new pair. I was pleased with the great customer service and i was ready to get on the trail again. This time i got about 175 miles out of the shoe until they started to fall apart again all at the same places.
"Super Comfortable - Great for the Trails" 07/06/12
These shoes are supremely comfortable and offer tons of support and cushion while ventilating your feet to keep them cool and dry. Whether you are a first time hiker or experienced on the trails, these shoes can't do you wrong. Plus they offer a price that can't be beat for what they provide.

"Everything i wanted" 11/01/11
heres the thing i wanted the comfort and lightness of a sneaker and the durability and strength of a boot. surprisingly i got it in this. i'm not sure how they do it but this shoe has a feel of a boot in terms of walking and scrambling but the feel of a shoe when . . . .walking and scrambling. seriously
"Love the Look, Feels Great on the Feet!" 09/29/11
Bought this shoe at a local store, before I knew about Moosejaw, I had to return it because it was kinda tight on my feet, I got the same size but in a Wide and everything is great since then. I just got back from a multi-day hike and feet feel great. I do not feel like my feet got hot at all, they were “ventilated.” The Vibram works great, it’s the first shoe I have had with this on it and I will be sure to look for that again on my next shoe purchase, super comfortable! I would recommend these shoes, but I really wish that they were waterproof at this price, but I can’t have it all I guess.
"Great shoe that will last." 09/07/11
I had these shoes for about a year and a half, and the only reason I don't have them anymore is cause I lost them. To be short the shoes were always comfy and I never got a blister or hot spot from them. The shoes are pretty grippy very durable. I wore these when I worked at a summer camp one year and the same pair again the next year, and they worked great for anything I did. I'd recommend these for sure, just don't forget the tops are mesh, no one likes a soggy foot.
