"Awesome Shoes" 03/28/12
According to my fiance, these shoes are awesome. He got them to wear hiking through Costa Rica for a week but he wears them for every day activities too! I love him, but he loves to complain...and I haven't heard one complaint from him about these shoes, only compliments. THIS IS A BIG DEAL. They dried quickly when they got wet and provided stability through the rain forest and lava trails of Arenal National Park.
"Great for Traveling to Asia" 02/16/12
I bought a pair of these before moving to Japan, as it is their custom to remove your shoes before going inside. I didn't want to compromise on toughness or looks, so this was perfect. So easy to use! After almost 2 years of hard use, the padding is worn out on the heels, and the toe tread is peeling back, but I hiked, ran, played soccer, took them on a few major trips, and got in and out of them basically everyday multiple times. I want another pair after these ones finally croak!
"Great shoes for the wannabe outdoorsman..." 01/02/12
Great shoes but... Not completly happy with the Chameleon 3's compared to the 2's. The lack of the achellyes cut out is a pain. Rubs a great blister when you wear ankle socks or no socks (hey stinky feet crew). Just ordered the Cham 4s, hope they work out better. Merrell is pretty good about fixing that kind of mess up. Recommend spending the extra 20 bucks and get the 4s. It's like buying and old computer when a newer/better version is available. Your feet will thank you.
"Great Performance, Sucky Longevity." 12/10/11
The best way I can sum it up: I would rate these shoes in the same way that my girlfriend would describe my ability in the sack: Great - for the first 5 min. I love the easy slip on, the laces function great. The sole is solid in most conditions. They dry well, are comfy. My gripe is that they don't last long. I bought these in July '10, and by August '11, the toe was coming off, and the heel curving forward & digging in my ankle. Trail-running = impossibility. Now, the backs of the boot are breaking down, and foam is falling out all over the place. They're still wearable, but purely in a civilian role. I wore them hard, & wore them frequently - but at this price I expected more wear.
"A great piece of gear." 11/30/11
Merrell has always been a choice product for guys in the special warfare community. The Chameleon 3 has been my go- to shoe for almost two years now and has worked wonderfully in very rough conditions. I was pleased at the quick drying time (1-3 Hrs) and the comfort level for an outdoor shoe.
"Pretty slippery" 11/29/11
I have never wore a pair of shoes that are as slippery as these on wet surfaces. I slipped and fell in these shoes so many times that I had to retire them. I use them as mud shoes while wade-fishing in the marsh now. I wouldn't recommend them.
"Awesome shoes, Ready for the long haul!!" 11/22/11
Bought these for my husband to replace an old pair of Chameleons. As always, Merrell has a super-comfy, durable, all terrain shoe! The stretch concept is great because you can be relaxed or batten down the hatches when you're descending any type of terrain. The Merrell insole wears down sorta quickly, but most companies these days don't put much effort into that, so just pickup some superfeet and you're all set. A must buy!
"Good stuff, only one complaint!" 05/19/11
These shoes are fantastic I've had them for a few months now. I was skeptical because its my first time experimenting with "this kinda shoe." They are really comfy, but the rubber is starting to peel away on one toe. The sole is starting to soften up, but it was pretty stiff for a good month or so. I would recommend them. enjoy life!
"front sole tore off on first outing" 03/22/11
first trip out with these things but have been breaking them in for two weeks. The front rubber sole on the front of the shoe broke off from the rest of the shoe. I hope it was just that pair so I exchanged for a new pair. Hope it is better for others
"first trip these things bustedddddd" 03/22/11
i was on a semi difficult backpacking trip in the Pisgah National Forest with these things, I had been breaking them in for two weeks and expected them to last. The first leg in though the front rubber on the shoe busted off. I think I was the maddest I have been in about 3 years. I hope it was just that certain shoe so I got an exchange for a new pair. I hope they last.....
"My favorite shoe" 03/17/11
This thing is Awesome. Good trail grip, super comfy, easy to get on and off. I think next time i'll spring for the goretex ones. when these got wet they took a while to dry out. Even wet they stayed comfy though. No blisters on a 7 mile hard climb up Snowy Mountain in the Adirondacks. The Vibrum sole does not wear very well in the city. That didn't last as long as i would have liked but I love them so much i can't let that lower my rating of them.
"They worked but not any better than any other athletic shoe I've had" 03/12/11
I used these shoes for about 5 months, i walked about 3-5 miles everyday in them. They are very comfortable, the cushions in the shoe feel really great and formed to my feet. But the elastic at the top gave me blisters sometimes because its shaped inward. Also the rubber sole started to pull away from the shoe after a month and then continued to do so all around the front. But the rest of the shoe held up well.
