"Great Light Hiking Shoe" 02/02/13
I usually wear these for shorter day hikes or in less rugged terrain. The fit is snug, even with the elastic drawcord for tightening. They are very comfortable and lightweight but they lack the ankle support of a mid boot. Have had a couple close call with rolling an ankle in these
"Great shoes, on our 4th pair!" 12/21/12
These shoes are GREAT! My husband is the general manager of 6 bike shops, so he's always on his feet, and these are his shoes of choice! They are easy to get on and off, but when you need it, they're easy to tighten. In addition to being great for work, if we want to go for an impromptu hike, there is nothing better. Fit is a tiny bit big as others have mentioned, they're also a little bit on the wider side (definitely not narrow) as many Merrells are. We're on our 4th pair -- not because the others have fallen apart, but because my husband keeps giving them to his boss's teenage son when he wants a new pair :)
"Great all year around shoe" 12/15/12
I've boughten the Chameleons every year for the past 4 years. They slip on easily yet hug your foot to stay on. I use these all year around from hiking in the woods, walking around town, playing disc golf and trekking through some snow. The shoes aren't waterproof but just buy a $5 can of waterproofer and they will be. Although they work great in the snow the treads on them lead to some slipping during the winter. They run a touch big i think, but the Chameleons always have. Merrell makes fantastic products that last and feel good, can't go wrong with them.
"Best alternative to tennis/running shoes" 11/26/12
I have owned 5 pairs of Chameleon Stretch version lightweight hikers over the past 7-8 years. Obvioulsy, I keep going back to them; they are super comfortable and need little break-in. I use them for everyday footwear in lieu of tennis, running, or cross-training footwear, as well as for biking and day hikes. The inner lining at the counter has in previous versions deteriorated more quickly than the outer, but I have had to reglue (gorilla glue) the vibram sole where it meets the upper's leather at times, but never before a year of steady wear.
"Worth Owning" 08/09/12
I've owned the Chameleon Stretch 2 and the Chameleon Stretch 3, so it was inevitable that I'd eventually own the Chameleon Stretch 4's. They just keep getting better (althought the 3's are the most visually appealing) and these feature the same quality you'd expect from any other Merrell shoe. Now go buy 'em before all the cool kids do.
"Very Comfortable once broken in a lil bit." 08/06/12
I am currently in the woods training 260 days out of the year for the military. Having comfortable shoes really make a difference. The color pattern blends well with my uniform and the tread works well in the medium terrain I operate in.
"Great shoe that will serve you well!" 07/14/12
I got this shoe for hiking, and it's great! It's a great hiking shoe, as well as a good solid everyday shoe. I hike in it but also wear it around for walking around outside. May need to break them in a bit, but once you do, they are wonderful.
"Soo much comfort" 02/24/12
Just got these and I cannot describe how comfortable they are, great treads, great fit, the bungee cord works perfectly in place of laces and i really wanted a pair of low tops for hiking around Caumset park and Giants ledge and i found them here
"Lightweight and comfortable" 12/13/11
These shoes are very comfortable and have a nice fit. I am not a heavy duty hiker just occasional but they perform very well for my purposes. I am sure that they would be up to the task if you are a serious hiker though the quality is very good.
"Love this shoe!" 11/10/11
This shoe is so comfortable! It is just like wearing a bed slipper. I just wish Moosejaw carried the Gore-tex version. It has a unique sock like tongue that grips your foot that is comfortable, but bends under when you slip on the shoe. No need for tying the shoe hence Slipper like!
"Stylish, Comfortable and who needs laces" 10/16/11
This is my second pair of Chameleons, and the second pair is as awesome as the first pair, except the new ones smell better. My use on the trail has been limited to day walks and many hours of busting the city blocks of foreign locations without a blister. They are super comfy and are stiff enough to provide adequate support. They are great for scrambling up rocks to.The draw string lace system rocks, especially at airports when you have to take your shoes off. Who needs to tie laces after you have been on a flight for 15 hours and crossed a gazzilion time zones.
