"This Jacket Rocks" 05/09/12
I'm a dog walker so I spend a serious chunk of my day outside. This jacket arrived just in time before a major rain storm & kept me dry all day. The hood is fantastic & even fits over a high ponytail. Pockets are big & easily fit all my bazillion things I have to carry with me all day. I do wish this jacket was a tad longer but the fit is good. I'm 5'1, 110 lbs & the extra small fit me perfect.
"Very practical jacket for the urban environment, too fragile sometimes for casual outdoor usage." 10/27/11
PRO: very light, the pockets are very well placed, good ergonomy, packs well in the daily backpack but must be treated with care, for example I keep it in a small compression bag.CONTRA: not for outdoors like woods and stuff because it's somehow fragile, but I do not think that this was its purpose. To keep the story short: the best bang for the buck rain/wind jacket for the urban jungle!
"keeps you dry." 09/10/11
Bought this jacket to wear in Peru and Uganda. It rained every other day, which is the complete opposite for West Texas. Keeps out the rain when its supposed to. The armpits have little venty things that help keep you cool. Definitely great buy!
"Love this coat!!" 06/28/11
I ordered this coat as a gift. This coat is made exceptionally well. There was a rain storm the other day and the coat arrived just in time!! The recipient adores it--and kept her quite dry! The coat fits true to size and the tailoring provides wonderful lines. It looks great! Will definitely buy a Marmot product again in the future!
"Cost-effective, Darn Cute, & Not a Liar." 06/26/11
If I had fairly low expectations, the description above could refer to a pretty good date. But I don't. My expectations are high and this jacket is both a good value and a good product. The material is sturdy, breathable and, most importantly, waterproof. Hence, its not a liar. It does what its meant to!The fit is fairly flattering and does allow for 1-2 warmth layers underneath. I took it on a spring backpacking trip replete with rain and wind and spent most of my time in it.A great choice for casual recreation and everyday rain wear.
"runs large, good for layering" 06/20/11
i got this jacket to be used as rain gear for a weekend trip. i ended up using it up in the mountains to layer over 2 fleece jackets, when i was caught freezing. the medium i got fit fine over the 2 fleece, and cut the wind chill. i normally wear mediums in all other clothing, so for this to fit over a tee, and 2 fleece, is good indication to it's size.hood is a bit small though. maybe i just have a large head
"Great fit and water proof, but doesn't hold up over time!" 05/24/11
When I first got this jacket I loved it. It has a nice tapered fit and I thought the hood was a great size (I have a ton of hair and it all fits in nicely!) However, a year and a half later it's really starting to wear. At the pressure points around the wrists and over zippers the material is starting to go fuzzy. I wear this jacket a decent amount, however I would have expected it to last a year or two more before going ratty.
"Mostly good" 05/23/11
True to size, lightweight and breathable. All great things! My biggest complaint would be I wish the visor attached to the hood was bigger. Two very minor complaints would be not enough pockets and the pit zippers are a tad small.
"3 Season Jacket in the Midwest" 04/18/11
I ordered this Precip online to get the best price, however, I went to a local sport/ski shop to try it on with the various layers I though I would need for 3 seasons. I wear a medium (5'8" 140lbs) usually, and I ended up ordering a medium in the Precip. I can wear my fitted soft shell underneath for spring skiing and cold rainy soccer games. It is a tiny bit more snug than I would choose but the fit is tapered and somewhat flattering, especially without the bulk layers underneath, so ordering a large would have defeated the nice thought that went into that :)I have worn the hood with a baseball cap and a tunic cap and have not found it to be too small.
