The Marmot Women's Montreaux Coat is a long length winter coat for walking the city, getting to work, or bustling around with credit card in hand. The coat covers you with 700 fill power down from head to knee, with a Down Defender treatment on the down, making the feathers water resistant against melting snow. The outside fabric is soft to the touch, durable, and also water resistant to take on the unpredictable winter weather. The angled baffles not only keep a feminine shape, but prevent the down from moving and shifting around, lessening cold spots. The interior of the jacket is lined with a plush fleece torso and micro fleece cuffs, bolstering the overall warmth and softness. The hood is filled with down so your head won't lose heat, worn with or without the fur, and can be removed completely from the jacket for a whole new style on warmer days. Snuggle in this winter.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Marmot Down Defender

Marmot Down Defender
Marmot Down Defender helps prevent down from clumping when exposed to water or moisture. This allows it to keep its loft, which equates to greater insulation. Nothing will stop the specially treated, highly water-resistant down from trapping warm air next to your body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm in Frigid NYC Weather I just tested the coat in frigid NYC weather. It's incredibly warm despite its light weight, even in windy conditions. The outside material is soft and has a matte finish, which I prefer to the ridiculous shiny look, and the fleece lining is delightfully soft. Some reviewers feel the hood is too large, but I found it fit perfectly over my favorite hat. The coat offers more coverage and higher quality down than competitors in the same price range. As someone who is always cold, I'm very glad I bought this coat! I highly recommend it for people who want to be warm and stylish in blustery conditions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great value Marmot always delivers great quality and this is no exception.   It does run small on top I'm 5'4" and needed an XL to fit properly in the shoulders. Its a little big in the body but there's room for a swearer.  When it's cold and windy I do need an extra sweater but I'm always the coldest person in the room.  The hood is really big and a little drafty.  I folded back the fur and it's fine.  I unfolded it when it snowed and it kept the snow out.  The length is perfect below the knee but not so long that I'm tripping over it.   Overall a good coat. My partner tried it on and bought one for herself.  She's very pleased too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super snug I've just purchased this and already I'm in love with it. The first winter coat I've ever owned that doesn't need four plus layers to keep me warm. Added to that, it's very stylish and flattering. I did find a big difference between the medium and large - I thought the medium might be a little too tight at first, but the large was really baggy in the back and I was advised it needed to fit well to be effective so I took a chance on the medium and I'm glad I did. I'm 5ft 4in and weigh considerably more than some of the other reviewers, but the medium is fine. I suppose it depends on your overall weight distribution. Hood is also fine for me. Only problem is how cold my legs are below knee!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and Cozy Of the many coats I tried from all the manufactures well known for making warm coats, this one was the warmest. My favorite things about it are the cozy fleece in the cuffs and neck/back, the inside pockets, and of course, the warmth. The collar on this coat is very plush, fluffy and full so when it's cold, it surrounds my neck with warmth and doesn't let in the cold. Especially when it is zipped up all the way and with the hood on. The only thing that would make this coat better is if it had a more weather resistant shell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best and luckiest find I picked a really bad time of year to look for a coat ... It just so happened to be during the polar vortex when my window froze open on my way to work. I looked high and low for long puffer coats, found this one, and fell in love. The coat had a hood, the hood had fur, and they could both be removed. Needless to say, it was sold out everywhere. Finally after days of hunting, I found the coat in the black in my size!! It was worth the wait. The coat is the warmest and coziest thing I have ever put on, the pockets zip, and it's light weight and doesn't make you look like the Michelin man. I would buy this coat in every color if I had the money!! If you are hesitating, look no further. Scroll back up and buy it now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best investment I've ever made This coat is hands down the best piece of clothing that I have ever owned. I live in South Dakota where temperatures dip to -15 at times and this jacket keeps me more than toasty. I am constantly cold in the winter and this is the only coat that keeps me warm and I can comfortably stand around in 10 degree weather for upwards of an hour in this coat. Not only is it like a bear hug from a flock of geese, it's also wicked durable. I have two dogs that like to jump up and claw at it , and not even the slightest hint of wear after two seasons of wearing it daily. The soft lining of this coat is wonderful, and the fleece cuffs inside the sleeves are amazing! I love the length, the cut, and the fact that it doesn't make me look like a walking sleeping bag. I am 5'3 and 125 lbs and have this in a small, which is my normal size. This coat fits over a thick sweater but doesn't feel baggy over just a tee shirt.  The only thing that could improve this coat is a draw cord at the bottom hem for windy days. If you are considering this coat, buy it. You won't regret it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Feathers shed like crazy I agree with the positive reviews here (incredibly warm, fits great) *except* for one thing that I can't believe others haven't mentioned: the down feathers shed through the fleece-lined torso like crazy! This means that I hesitate to wear the jacket any time I'm wearing a dark wool or cashmere sweater (it sticks all over like a shedding dog). For such an expensive coat, it's a real disappointment. I love it otherwise, but for all the shedding I'd never buy this jacket again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Warm I bought this coat about a month ago. It has recently started getting pretty cold (in the 30's) and the coat has kept me very warm. When it rains or snows and it gets a little wet, it dries very quickly. I love that I can wear a regular sweater with this coat and not be cold. Usually with other coats I've had, I've had to really layer or wear very heavy sweaters to stay warm. This is not the case with the Montreaux coat. I can wear a light sweater and I'll stay warm even when it gets down in the low thirties. I love that it has a double zipper so I can unzip the bottom if I need to and not have to unzip the whole coat. The only thing is that the zipper is a little hard to zip up sometimes. I wish it was a little bit more smooth. I'll be going to Canada this month and I'm hoping this coat can handle December there.

I am 5'7.5" and weigh around 115 lbs, waist size 26/27, and bust 34B.  What size would you recommend? Also would this be good for a Chicago winter-- basically just commuting or being outside for short durations?

Asked by: Stephanie1
Get the small. I'm about 5'10, 140, 29 waist, 38C bust, and the Medium is perfect on me. If you like to layer tons (thick fleeces, etc.) then maybe size up to Medium, but this coat is so warm in Chicago that I'll wear it over a tank top to the gym in 25-degree weather. It's warm enough to be outside all day in it unless you're very cold-blooded. If it gets down into the teens or single digits, then I'll layer under it.

I'm 5'5" and about 136 lbs. Not curvy.  Please, what would be the size that fits me better?

Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! This....(as my friend Ben used to say) is a sticky wicket. With the info you've given me, I would wager that either a medium or large would be good for you. The best bet, however, will be to check out your true size! In between the size and color drop-down, there's a link. Click on that, and the computer will ask you several questions enabling it to discover your true (read:best) size! Hope this helps you out. Hugsies!!

I really like the extra length of this jacket.  Even though it is a womens jacket, do you think a boy could wear it too? I really like it.   (I tried on wife's "medium" winter coat, and hers fit perfect!  thanks!

Asked by: Robin
Howdy Robin! Sure, this should work just fine as long as it fits. You know how the saying goes.... "if the coat fits, wear it!"
