The Marmot Women's Chelsea Coat is a long, waterproof, insulated jacket for battling the winter storms. The Chelsea looks innocent enough, with it's mid-thigh length, feminine shape and removable synthetic fur ruff, but it's really much more. It has been built with 100% seam taped, 2-layer construction out of MemBrain® 100% polyester herringbone fabric. The result keeps you dry and warm in snow, sleet, and just plain cold weather, as it is waterproof and windproof. The inside is packed with 700 fill power down to insulate against the cold, without adding unnecessary weight to your delicate frame. Change your style with a simple zip, as the hood is removable along with the fur ruff, so you can go with or without fur and with or without hood. Microfleece lines the two zippered handwarmer pockets and you'll also find soft microfleece internal cuffs wrapping your wrists softly. Zip up and head to school, work, the store, or wherever else you need to go this winter.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from (Nearly) exactly what I was looking for This coat is (nearly) exactly what I was looking for. It is much warmer than the down-only coats that I was considering but still looks trim and stylish. Plus, the outer layer provides water and wind resistance. The hood sits a little low on my face, but there is space for a hat. Also, the pockets are a bit too far forward so that it's a bit awkward to insert my hands. In the end, the functionality and style of this coat so far outweighed all (all!) the others that I had tried. I've not only been getting compliments on the quality of the coat, I've gotten specific requests for ordering information. I hope they get it in another color so we don't all look alike!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so great. Bought this for my girlfriend. She has a big bust and big hips, but a skinny waist, and this jacket fit her better than either of the other popular brands. The down fill quality is good, and fur hood thingy is of decent quality. I'd definitely give this coat 6 starts for value, as it is of comparable quality and design to coats almost twice the cost. I suspect that I'll have to buy my GF a down sweater to layer under this for the colder winter days, but this suits her, as she hates super lofty parkas. Also, my GF loves the look, I think it flatters her figure and she looks cute.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Extremely prickly & too noisy I purchased this jacket 2 weeks ago. The style is great and pretty warm for my lifestyle ( I don't spend long periods of time outside). It's makes alot of noise when you move but I can live with that part. After wearing the jacket a couple times I started to feel sharp prickles throughout the jacket ( could only be worn with a thick sweater under.) My husband tried it on and said it felt like a hundred needles were poking him. I tried to return it but the store is only willing to give me a new one, which will take a week to arrive. I'm crossing my fingers, hoping the new one won't have the same problems!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from waterproof, warm, slimming I love this coat. I just bought my second. Love the new wine colour. More roomie arms than NF artic parka, so there is room for extra layers underneath. I always buy XL even if I can fit a L, for added warmt and possible layering, if i need it - sleigh/icy rain can be rather cold here - colder than snow. Totally waterproof and combined with waterproff tall riding/walking boots, you won´t even notice it´s winter here in Denmark. And you won´t need a rainset. The light grey one from two years ago was a bit difficult to keep totally clean. Washed very well in washingmashine, though. shrank a tiny bit due to too hot in dryer (!!!) - e.g. hand cuffs a little tighter , lenght 2 cm shorter. worn every day for two winters - you can´t tell, it looks new. Please make one in aqua teal warm blue colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cozy warm! This is the first Marmot coat that I have ever bought, and I love it!  I am very happy that I invested in a down coat that will last through the years.  The coat is chic and timeless. I love how the pockets have a fleece lining, keeps my hands warm when I'm not wearing gloves.  I bought the Medium size and it fits great.  I am 5'5, 138 lbs, 34 D.  I have enough room to wear a bulky sweater.  I highly recommend this coat!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not warm enough for me I bought this Chelsea coat and the Montreaux. I thought that this one would be warmer because of the more wind resistant shell. I wore both of them outside on a windy, very cold (~10degrees F) night. The Montreaux kept me warmer the longest. There is only a small difference in fill power, but it was noticeable. If weather resistance is of importance, this coat would be good. Warmth is more important for me, so I kept the Montreaux.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm at last I can sit in the back seat of the car for a 13 hour winter night drive North and be warm.  When we dash in and our of stores I can easily unzip and be comfortable. I wish it had a drswstring to cinch the waste so  it could have a bit more definition. I hope it is easy to wash because I have the almost white coat. If it proves easy to keep clean I'll be totally happy    Sizing seems a bit off. Usually I wear a small or medium but the large fits me pretty well with this coat.  Only wish it didn't cost so much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat I have waited to write a review on this coat bc I wanted to live in it for atleast a month first. When I first opened up this coat I thought it was awfully light weight and thin which worried me. I called marmot and they explained its 700 down fill meant that it was going to be light weight but would affect the warmth. I decided to trust them and I tried it-  it fit perfectly. I bought an xs in black- for reference I am 5'4 and my weight can vary between 110-115lbs. I am very petite, flat chested and carry most of my weight in my bottom half. The fit of this coat is very flattering and I have enough room to comfortablely layer sweatshirts and sweaters underneath if I wanted to. The fleece lined pockets are great and even on 20 degree days I can shove my hands in them if I forget gloves and I am completely fine. So about the actual function of this coat- I live in Boston and walk to work everyday so I truly did my research to find a coat that would help me survive this winter. We have had wind, rain, sleet, snow and temperatures ranging from below zero to 45 degrees so far this winter (gotta love new England weather) and I can honestly say that this coat has not failed me once in any situation. Don't be fooled by it's light weight build- this coat will keep you toasty warm, it's breathable and is absolutely water/wind resistant (I walk over a bridge on my commute). I personally think the hood is wonderful and even in extremely strong winds it stays on my head.  Yes, the jacket does make a bit of a squeaky sound and at first it was aggravating me for a few days. Then I realized that most down coats make atleast some type of swishy sound (as I pass many fellow down coat commuters on my way to work) and that I wasn't going to give up on an amazing coat and being protected from the elements bc of it making a sound. Also, it doesn't make the noise when I walk. It's mostly just when I am slipping my arms through when putting on the coat. Hope this review helps if you are looking into purchasing this coat!

i live in new england - will this coat go the distance to -20F wind chill? in other words, what's its temperature rating? thanks.

Asked by: catt
Thanks for the question! Unfortunately, Marmot does not temperature rate their garments. With that being said, the Chelsea is a 700-fill down, waterproof coat. It will be very warm based on the fill amount alone. On the extremely cold winter days I would add extra layers just to be safe. Hope this helps!
