Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the best jacket I've ever owned This is a great combination of warmth and breathability, making it perfect for both warmer and colder weather. I own a Precip, which is a great rain jacket, but if it's at all warm, I end up sweating a lot! The ROM isn’t as rain-proof, but it's so breathable that I can wear it without sweating and feeling, yet it's warm and stops anything short of a hurricane. ,,,,I'm 5'10" and 165, and the medium is plenty big. It’s just a bit on the big side, which means I can put 2-3 layers on under it, and get super warm. Oh, and I bought the gray/cinder one, and I think I look like Desmond Miles from Assassin's Creed--which is kinda cool too :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome multipurpose jacket absolutely awesome jacket. works as a windbreaker, perfect as a shell over a fleece in the winter, provides a bit of warmth, runs fairly long and slim, zipper runs up to the mid chin which is crucial when its cold, anything but hot weather and medium to heavy rain. the material used for the sides and underarms is quite thin and very breathable. really nice craftsmanship, big pockets. smooth zippers. wrist keep wind out. tremendous value for the amount youll be able to use it. athletic 6 ft 173 with a long torso. small fits with no room to layer at all, medium fits best with room for a thick fleece or puffy but still tight enough with a thinner midlayer, large was definitely too big.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Breathable and windproof. . . what more do you want? This is essentially the Leadville with a hood. Not sure I really need the hood -- it won't fit over my climbing helmet and if I'm cold I'd wear a beanie. But, heck, I bought it with a hood so I can't complain!,,,,I'm 6'6", 250#. The sleeves and body are long enough that I could fit in an XL, but I got the XXL as it gives me more room to layer underneath. All three exterior pockets remain accessible even with a backpack on. I'd like a little sleeve pocket on it as well, but that is picking nits. ,,,,The material is very soft and comfortable. The Gore windstopper does its thing, yet the jacket breathes pretty well. Not sure about its water repellancy, but didn't buy it for that purpose. Packs down well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good for its intended use This is a nice little softshell for high-energy winter sports. It doesn't provide insulation on its own, but for winter running, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or even vigorous walking, this jacket seals in necessary warmth and dumps the excess through the side panels. Nice that it regulates temp without the constant adjustment of pit zips. Worn over a mid layer, it makes a decent cold weather shell for less strenuous activities like downhill skiing. The primary drawback is that the material doesn't seem particularly hardy. The velcro cuffs are already starting to cause abrasions where they lay over the shell material, and I've owned the jacket for less than six months.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Get it. Got it? Good! I am a 5'10 male weighing around 205, but very athletic. I got the medium by accident but I am starting to realize this may have been the fit for me! It is a little snug, but I have been able to fit a sweatshirt underneath with out loosing ROM, but I did notice when I raise my hands above my head, my belly shows and the ladies start running! So that is why I think a large may have fit better.,,The jacket is very well made and I have worn it several times and have stayed warm. I am heading out to Colorado for some skiing and I am pretty excited to see how this jacket holds up!,,I would recommend everyone getting this jacket!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The end-all be-all jacket to change the world. I bought this on sale, and it was the last one. I can't seem to find them anymore, because I want 2 more. I want to keep 1 for my mountaineering where I care about the DWR and don't want to tear it up over time, I want another one for everyday use which I can tear up and still be warm, and I want a third as backup for when they stop making them!,,,,This thing is warm, but does have a breezy setup when the pockets are open (so it vents really really well). It works great over a down layer and under a hardshell like goretex. I loved the hood and I loved how it behaved in deep snow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around softshell I purchased this softshell last year (in the dark green) right before the dead of winter. I've never owned anything by Marmot but so far, I have been very impressed. This is a great all around jacket. It's very breathable and isn't constricting. I'm not always a fan of jackets because of the bulkiness (especially when I'm driving). But this one is not bulky at all. It actually gives you a very trim appearance. It fits the body very nicely without being too snug. If anyone lives in New England, you'll know that we had a brutal winter last year, and this jacket held up big time. All you need to do is to wear a medium to heavy sweatshirt underneath and you'll be fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ode to my ROM O soft shell, how do I love thee?,,Many reasons, more than three.,,I love thee climbing ice,,,You are stretchy and o so nice.,,I love thee on rock,,,You are snug just like a sock.,,When it is windy, brisk, and cold,,,Your pockets, hood, and zipper keep me sold.,,Should everyone get thee, I do believe.,,Because a ROM is a Rare breed indeed.
