The Marmot Men’s PreCip Jacket is so legit for those dull, rainy days. Well, you could make them un-dull by putting on the PreCip and going out and having fun outdoors still. This Marmot jacket is 100 percent seam taped, and is made from waterproof PreCip Dy Touch technology. So fancy. An elastic draw cord hem makes it easy to find the perfect fit, and this thing has a roll-up hood. Dang. You’ll probably want it to rain when you get this baby. Maybe not, but rainy days won’t be as bad.

"Great for around town and the low/moderate hike" 02/13/13
I live very close to my work, so I walk most days. I does as advertised, keeps me dry. It s not windproof, so if that is a must for you, this is not your jacket. I am 6'4' and 240 pounds. I got an XL. It is a good fit, a little baggy for my taste. It fits great when I have another layer on, I usually have a The North Face vest under the PreCip, it fits great in that scenario. I would buy again. It is light, and keeps me dry.
"So Light! So Cheap! GREAT value in a waterproof/breathable jacket." 01/03/13
Even at the "full price" this jacket kicks ass because it's so darn lightweight. I also have a $350 3-layer GoreTex jacket from Marmot, but my little precip has all the same features and weighs SO much less, I always end up pulling that big old bomber jacket OUT of my pack and putting this one in! Sure it's not as durable, but at almost a pound lighter and $200 less, it's a tradeoff I'm willing to make. When it wears out I'll buy another just like it. If you see this on SALE? Woah, dude, go for it.
"Great for the Weight and price" 01/02/13
I loved this jackets design because it has the pit zips, which can be hard to find in a cheaper jacket. This is my every day type of jacket that I wear in wet weather year round. I carry it out into the backcountry in the summer cause its very light weight. I don't think I would use it as a winter shell but awesome for any other season or just to wear for short periods of time when its wet and cold out. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a light weight low price rain jacket.
"Best simple rain jacket for the $" 12/20/12
Being that these are almost always on sale for 30-40% off at end of season, they make for a great rain jacket, whether its around town or in the backcountry. Packs easily, lightweight (although some other models are lighter and more packable i.e. mica jacket). Keep rain out, can get a little clammy underneath during the summer though, doesn't breath very well IMO
"Best lightweight raincoat you could buy" 12/15/12
I love this coat, I have had great experiences with it. Its great to just stuff in a bag in case it rains and it surely will keep you dry when you need it. It also serves as a great windbreaker with a light hoodie underneath.
"One of the best for the money!" 11/30/12
I've gotten to use a number of different shells over the past couple years and this is one of the best in the sub$100 range. simple breakdown:Pro's:+Pit-zips allways a plus+Light weight, packs small, great for travel+Lots of little touches: chin micro chamois, sinchable hood draws, extra button at bottom for zipper flap, adjustable hood, Velcro cuffs Cons -pit-zips are large, which causes bunching and allows water in, especially when moving a lot-pockets are not particularly durable feeling, made from mesh with only 2 points of attachment, good for a phone/gps/etc but not much else
"This is a must Buy!" 11/22/12
The Jacket is simply unbelievable! The specs of this jacket really puts out allot more than the price that it is set at. My friend and I both purchased this jacket, and literally a couple of days later we had a massive storm in our city. The clouds were extremely black and when it began to pour more rain then imaginable this jacket kept us bone dry! I have had this jacket for over two years now and it has not lost any of its capabilities!
"Great jacket for the price." 11/02/12
I've had two of these. The first one was returned to marmot after 8 years when the lining started flaking off around the collar and hood. They replaced it without any problems and i received a much newer version. The jacket is great, i would probably get another one if i lost mine. It is really hard to beat for the price. It has a lot of features that comparable jackets don't. The pit zips and pocket vents are great on the really hot days.
"Best light weight water resistant option out there." 10/25/12
This is a great jacket. Light and easily rolled up to a small size for packing. Functional with the velcro on the wrist, under arm zippers for temp. control and drawstring waist plus the hood. However, the best part is that Marmot is the best company. They stand behind their products because they know just how good they are.
"Dependable, High-value, Simple" 10/08/12
A rain jacket is an essential piece of gear for the casual traveler, as well as the hardcore adventurer. The Pre-Cip, as one of Marmot's most basic designs, is a great all-around piece of outerwear. It is fitted well, has excellent ventilation due to the pit zips, and is very waterproof. The seams are securely taped on the inside. Water has no chance of permeating this layer. There are probably lighter, more compactable jackets for extremely weight-sensitive backpackers, but this thing does everything you need it to do. The price is fair, especially if you find a sale. Also, this thing is pretty stylish. At least it's not hideous.
"Good but not great..." 10/04/12
Like the fit and waterproof qualities, but there are a few things that made me return it.1. The primary reason is that the hood is not a true 2-way adjustable hood. Every time I turned my head I found myself staring at the inside of my hood. Thought the velcro strap on the back would do the trick but it didn't.2. The cords that adjust the sides of the hood make it difficult to close the velcro storm flap over the top of them.3. I couldn't stand the velcro on the pockets! It would catch on my sleeve every time I put my hands in the pockets. You know, it's the little things in life...
"Epic Fail" 09/30/12
I don't usually write product reviews but I am so unhappy with this jacket that I felt like I needed to write one as a public service. I love Marmot and I have many items that I am happy with but this jacket just doesn't hold water, literally. We own 3 of them as I bought one each for my wife, my son and myself. I have, at some point, worn each of them. I have never once stayed dry. My most recent experience was this weekend on a 3 day hike of the Catskill Escarpment Trail. It was raining to start, but after 5 miles I removed the jacket and was soaked through all layers with water running straight down my chest! Not at all a waterproof shell!
