"Bought it as a replacement for my Arcteryx and it rocks." 10/24/12
Been looking everywhere for a softshell that equals the attention to detail, finish and practicality of my Arcteryx Gamma SV. And at a more affordable pricepoint. Marmot's Gravity checks all the boxes. I was worried about the sizing and buying "sight unseen" online but I couldn't be happier with the purchase. I run about 220lb, 6' with wide shoulders and long arms. I find the fit well tailored (cuffs don't rise up to my elbows when I lift my arms and whether it's an illusion or not, the jacket cuts an enviable athletic silhouette---chicks dig that). But it does remain roomy enough to add a fleece or other heavy layer underneath. Bottom line? Marmot's Gravity is worth exploring.
"Not even close to being the "Apex" of softshells... it's better!" 09/24/12
Awesome softshell. Angelwing movement is killer- adding both comfort and flexibility to a great looking jacket. One of the best things about this jacket is that it can take a beating- you can throw it around, smash it into your pack, whatever, and it still comes out looking great. And for those with infants or soon-to-be dads, milk and spit-up cleans up in a jiffy. If you live on Earth, you can't live without Gravity...
"Excellent!" 07/31/12
I bought this for cross-country skiing and have been very happy with it. It is very thin and light, yet very warm and windproof. I wear this and a simple columbia fleece vest and am very comfy at 15F - I'm moving of course. It is very movable and seems to deal well with sweat. Also good for jogging in the fall. Overall, it's a great jacket. The outer shell is wind/water resistant, there is a thin fabric lining inside that keeps it warm and it's cut well so that it doesn't constrain my movements. It's definitely well worth the money.
"my first soft-shell" 05/07/12
Got this in red. It is extraordinarily comfortable. The fleece lining is very soft and fuzzy (which you'd hope would be the case) but also fairly breathable. The sleeve pocket has also been pretty useful for my cell or iPod. I'd definitely recommend this.
"Best softshell on the market!" 03/14/12
I bought this jacket for my boyfriend in the black color. He absolutely loves it! He is about 5'10" and 180 lbs and the large fits him well. This jacket looks great dressed up or worn casually. It's super warm and does a great job shielding against wind/light precipitation. He prefers to wear this jacket during the winter with a warm flannel shirt or long sleeve shirt instead of a giant winter jacket.FYI: I've had the female version of this jacket for about 4 years and love it! It still looks brand!
"Amazing Jacket With Many Uses" 01/15/12
This is by far my favorite soft-shell. It looks great so I wear it around town and to work. It also performs great so I have taken it on many cold weather backpacking trips. The fleece lining is very nice, and the upper arm pocket is great for cellphones or maps. After you wear this jacket once you will be able to tell that is is very well made. I have put this thing through hell and it still cleans up nice after I get back home.
"This jacket is the shit!!!!!" 10/14/11
I have had several Marmot jackets before but this one is by far the best. I was going to go with another brand (Arcteryx) but am happy I saved my money. This jacket is very comfortable, fits great, and is just what I was looking for. I would strongly advise anyone to buy this one.
"Great for the price" 07/18/11
I got this jacket for a semester abroad during the spring semester. It was easy to pack, but very warm with a couple base layers (zip up hoodie and t-shirt). It does a great job in wind and rain and you'll definitely stay warm when you're moving around.
"totally worth it" 04/04/11
i use mine all the time, even in sub freezing temps. you just might need to wear a couple base layers or a nice thin hoody or fleece underneath to be totally comfortable. blocks wind very well and repels light rain. the material is really durable too. i climb with it when it's cold sometimes and the shell is tough enough to take a little beating.
