I have had this Marmot Zion Jacket for a few years now. I really like the hood design and adjustments. You can get great coverage yet still have good peripheral vision.Fabric seems to be quite durable.Insulation is good. It's not a down parka by any means but seems to be good for temperatures down to around 40 if you are active. The fit is quite good too. I have a bit thinner torso and I don't feel this is super baggy. I am about 5'7" with 35 chest and a small fits great.I have had some marmot small jackets that were too big so this is a welcome change for the better. Lots of pockets keep this versatile. Also, breathable too. I appreciate the front side pockets that are designed so that one can access them while wearing a pack. They pockets are also generous enough to have room for a water bottle which is handy if you are trying to keep a bottle from freezing up in super cold weather. The design/graphics are nicely done, not too over the top. DWR coating seems to be lasting
I love the way this jacket looks and feels the quality of the fabric and the zippers is just top notch. It is soft for sure but not super stretchy it breathes well and is 100% waterproof. Adaptability is great I wore it with a layer on a morning when it was 37 then took the layer off and wore it comfortably while hiking when it hit the mid 60'sPros Looks Great and Adjusts well (hood and waist)Amazing Build QualitySoft to the touch "real soft shell" Super Waterproof/Windproof (beads up and rolls off)Breathable LightweightCons Not as warm as I wanted but then again its only a micro fleece liner so layer up and its amazingI bought a large because other reviewers said it fit when they were 6 foot ish and athletic build (athletic build on the internet apparently means fatty) I'm calling mooseshit because at 6' 180lbs this jacket is pretty roomy in large I would have gotten medium and still had room for layers underneath
It is an extremely versatile jacket great for any outside excursion. I have used it both as my softshell and outershell for snowboarding, hiking, and climbing. I've used the jacket for about 40 days on the slopes and have found it to be very waterproof, which is odd considering how breathable the jacket is. While it may not be warm enough for standing or belaying, the jacket keeps you cool and protected from the elements while you are moving. I also like the style and the fit of the jackets. The two side pockets are extremely deep which is great for stashing gear and food (you can fit an entire wine bottle in each pocket). However, I do have a few qualms about the fit. I found the hood difficult to fit over a climbing helmet, though it does fit, it lifts the jacket up a bit. Also the angel wing fit is a bit off. When you lift your arms the jacket lifts up a bit as well. But these are very small problems in an otherwise perfect jacket.
