Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket for cross country skiing in the N.Rockies I wear this jacket XC skiing both skate and classic styles in Teton Valley, Wydaho. The large fits me perfectly with absolutely no binding anywhere while skiing (due to good fit & stretchy fabric). I am 5;-11" & 190 lbs. ,,,,The jacket is also very versatile: When colder, I wear it under a wind-beaker. When I warm up, I shed the windbreaker and stuff it in my fanny pack. If it gets warmer still I unzip a little. These options give the jacket a useful range from about 0 F up to 40 F (while actively skiing). The 3 pockets are great and the wind-proof/insulated front panel feels great on cold downhill stretches of ski trail. ,,,,I just bought another one for my wife's Christmas present.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not perfect, but fills an important niche When ski touring or winter hiking, I used to either layer thick enough to stay warm in front but end up with a sweaty back under the pack or layer thin enough to avoid a swampy back but end up cold in front. Well, no more - this is the mid-layer I've been looking for. Puffy-style warmth in front and breathable fleece-style warmth everywhere else. The sleeves are a little long and the thumbholes are a little odd (the fleece on the cuff past the thumbhole is too thick to really fit under a glove but too tight to fit over anything but a liner glove), but given how few other options there are that solve my hot / cold / sweaty problem so effectively, I can easily overlook its imperfections.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good jacket, probably not very good for heavy duty use. This jacket is perfect for what I use it for, which is an everyday jacket that keeps me warm enough but isn't so bulky I take up a whole hallway. However, while it is definitely sufficient for everyday use, it doesn't feel like it would do well as a jacket for using in the extreme cold for any extended period of time, except maybe as a layer under a thicker jacket. If you are looking for a jacket that makes winter feel like summer, this probably isn't it, but if you want a great looking, sufficiently warm, and non-bulky jacket for everyday use, you wouldn't go wrong with this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ADDICTED THE THE MARMOT VARIANT We own a few of these in various colors we love them so much. I love my Marmot Variants so much I bought them in three colors … then I purchased one for my husband. 6'0, 190 lbs, size Large fits great. We are using these as mid-layers for skiing under our jackets (the insulated vest really protects your core), but it would be perfect for Spring skiing on its own. I should be able to use it as a stand alone for spring or fall hiking, backpacking, running. The thumb holes on the sleeves are awesome, and it has nice hand warmer pockets for storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome all around! Wore this jacket bouldering all weekend in 35-45 degree weather. Kept me warm while moving around and climbing. As soon as it started cooling off just threw on another layer and it insulated very well. Surprisingly durable as well, stood up to sliding over rock and some small falls without leaving a mark. I love this jacket and every bit of Marmot gear I own!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these Marmot Variants!!!! Addicted to owning every color! I happened upon this jacket accidently this year when I picked one up on sale at some lame site before I discovered the most amazing website/store EVER!!!!! Moosejaw of course. I proceeded to pick up a few in various colors. I wear them at work pretending that I just haven't taken my jacket off yet - but I keep it on all day. So I decided that this was the perfect gift for my husband of a million years. It's warm, but not so warm you have to take it off (like at work). Yet with light, flexible sleeves (almost fleece but not really - more like thick poly base layer), you don't feel like your in a jacket. Perfect mid layer for cold ski days but good enough as outwear for the 45 degree ski day we just had at Wolf Creek. In fact, I saw a few of these on the mountain. Obviously built to go the distance but look s really cool too!!! It says "I buy really cool looking stuff that is practical too". Love this jacket - always a Marmot fan but total Moosejaw Freak!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Light Jacket Wore this bad boy up Quandary Peak in Colorado in late September. Blocked the wind very well and wicked the sweat right off my arms. Kept me warm and dry with a 10 mile an hour wind at the summit. Buy it, you'll love it.
