The Marmot Men's Speed Light Jacket is a shell jacket for climbing and adventuring. The GORE-TEX® Pro 3L, 100% nylon ripstop fabric has been 100% seam taped for protection against rain, snow, sleet and wind. A weather-battling machine, the athletic fit stays close to the body and the attached, helmet-compatible hood cinches down to prevent your hair from getting soaked. Stay cool as you work hard during the climb by opening the PitZips wide. Strap the asymmetric cuffs close to the wrist via low profile Velcro® to reduce dripping down the forearms. Dual hand pockets and the chest pocket are all accessible when wearing a pack or harness, so you can quickly grab snacks, gloves, and other small items without slowing down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best jacket i essentially lived in this over the summer in New Mexico in the Rockies then moved to NY last year - i wore it as a shell over a mid weight down jacked just to protect me from the elements etc. It is amazing, I've put it through a lot and it's stood up to everything except a pretty hard fall where I tore the pocket. (my fault) I need to send it to marmot to get it fixed. They have awesome customer service so I am not worried. Oh, and I have the blue - I get compliments constantly on the color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Jacket Picked it up for an absolute steal of a price, with nothing better on the market rivaling it. Great fit especially for a 6'5" 230lb guy, wearing a XL with more than enough room for a down puffy underneath and still comfy while still not too big without. Good quality stitching and seam sealing, very clean cut. Zippers were stiff to start off with but loosened up over time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Speed is safety If you're a practitioner of New Alpinism then you believe light is right because you climb faster, go faster, go farther. I love my Speed Light jacket because it meets those requirements. It's super light (under 1 lb), has fantastic weather protection from both wind and water and looks super (especially in the blue that I purchased).  I take this jacket with me mostly for ice climbing but it works well for mountaineering as well as summer backpacking trips. It has just what you need (including pit zips and a breast pocket) but none of the frills (e.g. snow skirt, thumb loops, etc.). It's also long enough (but not too long) so as to not ride up underneath my climbing harness.  Note, it's a very trim, athletic fit. I wear a mid-weight fleece base layer and a 80g synthetic mid layer (like the Marmot Isotherm Hoody) and then the Speed Light. My puffy goes over the Speed Light for belays but it wouldn't fit underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Skiing I bought this jacket for mixed use: skiing and hiking as part of a layering system. It is perfect for both. For skiing, the jacket stays out of the way and let's you enjoy yourself - no straps or catchy Velcro in the way. And the seams are well sealed to keep out water. It is light, packable and very minimal. Great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Jacket EVER! I had always been a skeptic on why a jacket could possibly cost so much. I was given a gift card and figured it would be worth a try with all of the things that I like to do outside. WOW. I can't believe how functional the jacket is. It somehow keeps you hot when it's cold out without over heating when it's warmer. I have used this jacket in all types of situations and I have not noticed any signs of wear and tear. Get one now! You wont regret it!
