The Marmot Men's KT Component Jacket is a ski jacket that performs just as well on the slopes as it does in everyday life. The Component series comes in twos, two jackets, three ways to wear. The outer shell is a 2L, 100% polyester oxford with Marmot® MemBrain® to provide you with 100% waterproof protection. The snow and wind can get nasty out there, so you need a barrier against it at every turn on the slopes and around every corner on the streets of town. Hand pockets for glove liners and warming your hands and chest pockets with water resistant zippers for phone or maybe a snack, with a powder skirt on the inside to protect your lower back when carving (or falling) through deep powder. The PitZips open to dump extra heat when you're burning up from all the sweat and the hood is removable in case you're feeling lucky. Last but not least is the warmth behind the shell, the Thermal R liner jacket. It is packed with synthetic insulation to keep you warm during the coldest of days, and can even be worn alone on mild, dry days. Together they're a cold winter weather deterrent and separate they've got the fall and spring weather oddities covered.

Marmot Thermal R

Marmot Thermal R
Marmot Thermal R is an ultra-warm synthetic insulation for cold weather activities. Comprised of multi-channel and hollow fibers, it maximizes warmth while minimizing internal condensation and moisture. The hollow fibers are lofty and light for an excellent warmth to weight ratio.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Marmot MemBrain

Marmot MemBrain
Marmot MemBrain fabrics utilize a polyurethane laminate that perfectly balances performance for anything nature can throw at you. Waterproof, breathable and durable, the external protection coupled with minimal internal condensation adds up to pure comfort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect jacket!! I bought this coat for it's versatility, lightweight and it's conservative look. What I got, in addition, was an extremely warm, comfortable jacket that is good in any type of weather. You can't believe how warm it is, compared to it's weight. The quality and thought that went into this jacket is evident throughout. Great purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Naked ducks, here's your jacket! This jacket is dry and cozy. I've got the grey shell with black interior. What I like: clean look, detachable hood, adjustable velcro cuffs, sealing zippers, zipper attached removable liner, shell side zippers to access liner pockets, very warm, wind-proof, and sheds water. What I don't like: got a small- but ever so slightly long in sleeves and longer in the waist than I like, the liner sleeves attach with loops to button stays (which is great)- but it doesn't attach anywhere else like near the collar, and there is only one interior zipper pocket in the liner (would it be so hard to do one on each side?). Bottom line: I'm picky, yet I really like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great combination I bought this coat to replace a 20 year old 3-in-1 jacket. This jacket is comparatively light (weight wise), so I was happy to find it warmer than the jacket it replaces. Very comfortable and a great style. A great coat for general winter use or an active lifestyle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3 in 1 This jacket is really 3 in one. The liner serves as a nice jacket in and of itself. It's thin, but REALLY warm. It's been a mild winter thus far, but once the temperatures drop, and the white stuff starts to fall, I'll be ready.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Breezy Looks great .... however I am finding this jacket a little breezy, The top of the jacket around the neck is more open then any other coat I have. There is no draw string or any way to close it in. Unless I wear a scarf I am finding that my neck and shoulders are cold. It has been suggested that I get a smaller size, however I did not discover this aspect of the coat until it was in full use at which time it is no longer returnable. I have a fair amount of marmot gear and recommend the brand happily. The quality and the style of these products is always high In this instance I am recommending that when trying this on you make certain that the upper part of the jacket is tight enough around the neck as I believe more attention to design would make this the exrtraordinary.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent ski/snowboard/snowsports jacket A superb Marmot snowsports jacket. Excellent materials, rugged construction, good design, nice features. Good overall fit for most medium-to-fit body types.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat! Great ski jacket. Nice to be able to use components separately. It's like having 3 jackets in 1. Very useful.

I'm buying either the sky pilot or the k2 component for my son. Which is warmer? Do you recommend 1 over the other?

Asked by: Lynn
When looking at these two jackets, the sky pilot is warmer due to it's added weight. They both use a similar synthetic insulation, but the sky pilot is just a bit warmer than the KT Component. I would recommend the Sky Pilot because I believe it is the better bang for your buck, offering more warmth overall.

Is this jacket also suitable for hiking and other activities, or would you only recommend it on ski slopes? I'm looking for a light outer shell for summer rain protection when hiking and kayaking, and winter warmth in town and country, on foot and bike.
