The Marmot Men's Guides Down Sweater is an insulated jacket for stand alone and layering warmth in cold weather. Hiking the backcountry or even running errands in the city, the 700 fill power down is incredibly lightweight while still providing a whole lotta warmth. The down itself has been treated with Down Defender, adding to moisture protection in the snow. In drier conditions, wear it on its own, but when the weather gets really wet, throw on a shell over top. What an easy way to stay toasty warm.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Marmot DriClime

Marmot DriClime
Marmot DriClime is a mesh composed of two different denier yarns which work together to maximize breathability, prevent condensation and wick moisture. This means you can be as active as you want in the outdoors and remain dry and comfortable.

Marmot Down Defender

Marmot Down Defender
Marmot Down Defender helps prevent down from clumping when exposed to water or moisture. This allows it to keep its loft, which equates to greater insulation. Nothing will stop the specially treated, highly water-resistant down from trapping warm air next to your body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best I've ever owned Bought this jacket four years ago, and use it both in the city and for backpacking, which I usually do in cold and very cold weather. This jacket keeps you warm, is super comfortable, and feels luxurious. I am 53 years old and have had lots of jackets in my time. I have hiked literally thousands of miles and camped hundreds of nights. This jacket is simply the best. In fact, the only reason I have logged on to this site is to make sure that Marmut still makes the jacket, since one day I will want another one (though my current jacket does not show any age at all after four years of regular use). You won't be sorry with this jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbeatable features for the price Have only had limited time with this product but so far it has been awesome and the insulation and overall build quality is top notch. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a non-hooded jacket for layering or general use Size S fits an athletic 5'8"/174cm guy perfectly so absolutely no complaints sizing wise. One potential 'downside' for some about this jacket is its internal pockets. Am nitpicky about my pockets and was pretty disappointed to find out there weren't any drop in style abdominal pockets (guess it would only apply for those who use this as the outermost layer) It more than makes up for that with the quality and price though :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm, Light and Quick to Put On I also have the vest version of this and use it for temps in 40s and 50s. If it's colder or windy I slip this on. If it's much colder or rain/snow is coming down it's very easy to slip a shell on over it. For a quick trip to the mailbox or to put the trash out this is the lightest and easiest item to put on to keep you warm enough. Because this is so light and quick to put on it's first thing I grab if my outdoor excursion will be short no matter what the temp. I'm 5'11 and 165lbs. and Marmot mediums generally work well for me. This is fairly snug fitting but I don't wear a heavy or thick layer underneath, if I need more protection I put a shell on over it. If I wanted to layer more underneath I'd probably get a large but for my uses the medium has been perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super warm, great fit,but not an excursion jacket! Great outerwear jacket for low impact activity, or awesome as an Uber warm mid layer (which is what I bought it for). At 6' even, 195 # (not hashtag), I required an XL, which fits me perfect. Some have complained about the durability of outer material. It is not a jacket you rough house with through branches and thorns! If unsure check it out in a store, it will be quite evident once you hold it in your hands. It will keep you super warm, not protect you from sharp objects. Looking forward to never being cold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed! I live in Minnesota where weather is extreme, and constantly changing. This has become the perfect layering piece I was in search of - warm, light weight, packable, easy to move in. I use it under a shell on cold days, or stuff it in my pack as an extra winter layer if conditions change. Combined with a merino base and a lightweight top this jacket has kept me warm in everything winter has sent my way. My only wish is that it was available in a tall version.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great so far! Bought this a few days ago on sale and really loving it as a jacket that can be used as an inside layer, outside layer, or just standalone. Its so light and thin, yet super warm. As a standalone its perfect for 0-10°C and feels like its engineered for snug fit.  I'm 5'9", 165lbs, and found M to be a bit short, so went with L size. Am afraid of it snagging and ripping though. Said lifetime gurantee but turns out its just manufacturing defects.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from For extreme, dry cold weather I bought this coat for the harshest East Coast winter days and so far it has kept me warm in extreme cold. I have worn it and been quite comfortable in temperatures as low as the single digits with a negative wind chill--even when all I had underneath was a thin dress shirt and undershirt. A couple really nice premium features are the velcro adjustable cuffs (which are quite tight to begin with to keep in warmth but have enough stretch to go over gloves) and fleece lined pockets. There is an interior pocket that theoretically one could stuff the coat into, but I prefer to pack my insulated coats flat to maximize their lifespan.,,,,Only thing that makes this 4/5 rather than 5/5 is that the sleeves are a touch long on me. However, I tried down coats from several other brands before deciding on the Guides Down and I will say that Marmot generally has the shortest sleeve length, which is a good thing. Mountain Hardwear sleeves were at least two inches longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second coat purchased My previous coat has lasted six years of rough use and is still in use. I respond as a Fire Police Officer spending several hours at a time directing emergency vehicles and securing scenes in all types of weather conditions. My new coat will be used at other times for pleasure.
