The Marmot Men's Essence Jacket is a featherweight jacket for waterproof protection on your next hike or climb. The Essence weighs in at less than six ounces and packs down super small so it is barely noticeable, until the rain comes pouring down. The 100% waterproof NanoPro MemBrain nylon ripstop fabric is ready to take on the adventure. The water resistant zipper seals you inside and the hood cinches down so you can still see out of your peripheries. The single chest pocket hangs onto a mid-day snack or headlamp for quick access along the way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent protection, ultra-lightweight. Considering I spent more on this jacket than I ever have on a tent I was expecting alot and it definitely delivered. I didn't put it through any truly terrible conditions but it served to keep the rain off me and is feather-light, and takes up almost no room in a pack. Well-ventilated, very little feeling of mugginess like you get with these sometimes, even when the hood is up. I'm a fan of Marmot gear but I was on the fence about spending this much on a jacket. Based on my last trip with it, it will come in handy for a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Style, Great Product! This jacket is awesome at a reasonable price. I bought it for a away trip to the Eastern Sierras! Man, the jacket is so light and comfy, I couldn't stop using it! It keeps you dry and the efficient venting system makes sure that you do not sweat too much (which I usually tend to). ,,,,The great thing is that the color really is red (I mean REALLY red) and not like in some videos on youtube red/orange. I use the jacket almost everyday, also front country. It has style.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent hardshell without breaking the bank Checked this product out after seeing it received a 2014 Editor's Choice award from Backpacker Magazine. I'm moving to Portland, OR in a few months so I've been in the market for a higher-end hardshell for a while... just wasn't able to stomach the pricetags of some of them.,,,,This was an exception. Lightweight, breathable, and a doable price. The day it arrived I hiked several hours through steady rain with no issues, and was impressed with how I didn't feel muggy with it on (I'm typically a big sweater and have felt stifled in raingear previously). ,,,,Features are few due to it's light weight, but It does exactly what you want from a hardshell. I was also pleasantly surprised with the fit - I'm 6'1" and 220 and got a large but it's a well-fitted cut that wasn't baggy at all. The material also has a good bit of stretch to it so range of motion was really comfortable which is encouraging as I climb as well as backpack. Definitely recommend this to others.
