The Marmot Men's Bastione Component Jacket is a 3-in-1 jacket for all-season outdoor protection. The outer shell is constructed of two layers, using Marmot's MemBrain 10 fabric to provide 100% waterproof, breathable protection when the rain or snow unleashes upon you and your adventure. Equipped with a full length zipper and storm flap to prevent leaks, you can tuck into the soft DriClime lined collar against the wind when it's zipped to the chin. The dual hand pockets zip gloves safely inside and a zippered chest pocket secures an mp3 player, or a snack. The removable hood keeps your hair rated at an 8, or at least keeps it dry when pulled up. The hair rating may or may not be true. When the coldest of days roll in, zip the Thermal R liner jacket into the shell for insulated warmth. The synthetic insulation will toast you to the core. Wear the Thermal R separately as spring approaches, out on the town or hitting the slopes on a bright day.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from a waterproof coat i bought this coat specifically for its waterproof feature so that i can use it in rainy weather. so far i have worn it several times in light rain condition and i had been dry on those occasions. the fit for me is good and the style is pleasing. the lining, for me, is only suitable for cool but not cold weather, bearing in mind each person's tolerance to the cold is different. the only thing that i noticed, after wearing it for only several times, is the coming apart of a couple of stitches on the shoulder seam. overall, i like this coat. for me, it does what it is supposed to do-----keep me dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very versatile jacket. I've had this jacket now for just over a week and love it. It was my outerlayer of choice on a hike yesterday in the Colorado Front Range above 12,000' and performed excellently. I had on a cotton t-shirt baselayer, a cotton pullover for insulation, and this Marmot jacket and nothing got through. It was very warm and dry despite winds gusting up to probably 30 mph and the temperature only a few degrees above 0°F. Overall, an excellent jacket. Great for the mountains or just around the city. Has plenty of secure storage for wallets and cell phones, etc. and looks pretty sharp too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great jacket in the Marmot tradition Picked up this jacket just in time for a cold snap. The jacket was warm and wind-proof but I did have a bit of trouble with the breath-ability. In my opinion, there isn't any. After wearing for thirty minutes of walking, my skin was soaked and the shirt that I was wearing was wet to the touch. I'm not sure what might have contributed to the problem, but I will try to narrow down what is creating the problem.  This is my third Marmot jacket and overall, I love the brand and the technologically advanced materials and functions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Coat ! I purchased this coat a few weeks ago and love it. Lightweight, cuts the wind and I like the versatility. A couple of items you should be aware of... as with some other reviewers I found the coat to fit a little snug around the chest, all other dimensions are great. I am 6'2", 200 lbs. My brother is smaller, has the same coat and has the same opinion. I have to admit I am genuinely disappointed in the warmth. I've worn it in 25-35 degree weather with a flannel shirt underneath and it is not warm, not close. It makes the weather bearable, but you'll be thinking about going inside in short order. We all have different temperature tolerances/preferences, but I'm not terribly sensitive to cold. If you are, this coat may be a bad choice, especially given the price. This is the only aspect of the coat for which I'm disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spensive but worth it This is the product that got me hooked on Marmot. Props to the components that make up this component jacket. WARM removable liner and the outer shell of the jacket utilizes Marmot's MemBrain material for excellent protection from the elements. This one jacket sold me on Marmot's attention to quality and detail. Several sleeping bags, tents and other articles of clothing later, getting Marmot stuff has become an addiction.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor design I've had this jacket for 2 months. I thought it was a solid jacket, until the zipper to the side pocket got caught with my cell phone trapped inside. I've been wrestling with the zipper to get my phone out for 2 days! Stay away from this jacket, there appears to be too much material within the pocket that allowed for the zipper to get caught. One day I hope to get my phone out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The recipient was skeptical. I bought this as a gift for my son. It was hard to believe that the jacket would work as advertised, since it was so light. My son didn't think it would keep him warm. After a week of use, he was delighted to report that the jacket not only kept him warm but extremely dry in the cold rain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the Bastione is a machine I have had mine for almost 2 months. I have used it in extreme wind (over 40mph) gusts. Extreme temperature, minus 10 Fahrenheit. Precipitation in the form of snow, sleet and rain. The Bastione is a beast. I am very happy I purchased it. My confidence increases when I put it on.
