The Marmot Men's Ares Jacket is a lightweight down jacket for backcountry hiking and snowshoeing. The Ares is a 600 fill power down insulated jacket, with down defender, a coating which allows the down to resist moisture to keep you warmer in case it gets wet. The polyester mini-ripstop fabric protects the down from the harsh outside world and is coated with a durable water repellent finish so a light rain or snow won't soak into the surface. The regular fit allows for layers underneath and over top and the angel-wing movement keeps the jacket in place when raising your arms. Everyone likes a good stretch now and then.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Retro and warm This jacket has turned out to be a perfect match for my lifestyle. I live in lower Michigan with wet, cold, snowy weather. In the last month of owning this coat it has protected me from the elements with ease. I love the retro looks and style. It is amazingly light and comfortable. I use it as a daily coat and as a layer under my parka shell. I'm sure this coat will do fine in temps up to 10 degrees, but you will be dry. It is slightly fitted. I am 225 lbs and 5'11" and I got a large.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmth & Style I purchased this for my husband and couldn't be happier! I love the style of the jacket, especially the various grey tones. He loves the warmth and said he was surprised it was so warm because it's not bulky at all. He typically wears a light layer or two under the jacket and it's been sufficient in our low 20 degrees weather. May need a warmer jacket for long periods of time in lower temps, but for everyday wear it's perfect!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, Lightweight, Comfy, Not Bulky, and Stylish I recently decided to purchase a down jacket because I needed something warm, comfortable, and not bulky. After much research, I decided to go with this jacket in vintage orange/mahogany. The jacket is warm, high quality, very lightweight, nicely fitting, and stylish. It's also so comfortable that I just want to keep it on even when I'm inside. I wore a button up shirt, Marmot 1/2 zip, and this jacket in 8 degrees F and was comfortable. I'm sure with the necessary layers, this jacket can withstand even colder temperatures and you will still be toasty. Even the zippered hand pockets are warm. Also, I'm skinny (5'7" and 115 lbs.) and the small is fitted on me. It's also a lot more stylish than other down jackets; my girlfriend loves the way it looks on me. It packs away in the left pocket nicely, which is great because it doesn't take up much space in my daypack. Overall, great product for a moderate price. I only wish there was a hood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maine winter killer. After a recent cold spell last month I decided it was time for a down jacket. Couldn't have made a better decision. I am 5'11'' and 185lbs. and the Large fits absolutely perfect. Length, sleeves, everything is right. Tight up under the armpits, which I like. Not "boxy" like several others that I tried on. Looks good, keeps me warm, all good things.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great looking and practical. The Ares jacket is great. I love the color and and the overall clean and simple look. It's warm enough to just wear a T-shirt under also has enough room to layer under. Not too puffy to layer over as well. The jacket is down and I've seen a few feathers start to peak out but not a huge deal. Would buy again if I had the choice to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got it in that cool retro orange, LOVE IT! I've had this jacket for just over a month now and man, it's just awesome. I love everything from the awesome, retro colors/style, to the outstanding quality and features of this jacket. It's February in Utah and I've been wearing this thing around outside with nothing but a T-shirt on underneath. It is Toasty with a capital T. It's also really, really light too, and the part I love most is it's ability to pack into it's own pocket. This baby turns into a perfect pillow for me to use in my sleeping bag at night. Here's what you do: Wear it at night, pack it up in its pocket, use it as a pillow/keep it warm, wake up and throw it back on. This jacket gives probably the most stylish middle finger to cold weather I've ever seen. I get compliments all the time on the color too!(sexy orange/lime) I would definitely recommend this to someone looking for a super high-quality down that's got more attractive colors and a price that doesn't make the wife question your sanity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket & Pillow? Jacket is ultrawarm, ultrasoft, ultralight and ultrastylin'!  Cool retro look.  The jacket can be completely tucked and zipped up into one of it's own pockets turning the jacket into a great travel pillow!!  Bout the size of a cantaloup when stuffed into it's pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performs and looks great! Great jacket! It's lightweight, warm, and packable so what else could you ask for. I recently took a trip to the Midwest with 30 degree temps and the jacket kept me toasty even if it was a little light for that cold of weather.
