Rated 5 out of 5 by from I got this jacket as a I got this jacket as a replacement for my 20 year old Alpinist Tech Sweater. This is a great lightweight fleece meant for layering or cool days. It is not windproof, but it is not meant to be. The Driclime Windshirt under this is an incredible combination. If it's wet or colder, wear it under a shell. The Sharp Point or Spire Jackets work really well with this fleece. No jacket is perfect for everything. If you have the windshirt, a fleece and a hard shell, you can do well in almost any kind of weather or activity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I purchased two of this I purchased two of this Alpinist Tech Jacket, the black in Large, and the blue in Medium, because I was unsure how the jacket would fit. I am 6'2, 195 with broad shoulders which tends to shorten the sleeves a bit so I often have trouble coordinating sleeve length without making the body of the garment look like a billowy mess. The large is great to wear over a T and another long-sleeved shirt. Even with just a T under, the jacket is not at all baggy. It's not fitted mind you, but it's definitely not baggy. The medium is perfect to wear over just a T and the sleeve length is still perfect. This jacket fits great and allows for movement without feeling bound. I was unsure which would fit better and was prepared to only keep one, but I am definitely keeping both! These two jackets are two of the best investments I've made in a while.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the look, feel, Love the look, feel, performance and quality. This fleece sure seemed to do a fair job blocking those afternoon winds and keeping me warm above 12,000 ft in Colorado and held up amazing rubbing up against the rock faces on the way down. The size was perfect for me... I am 5'11'' and weigh 188 lbs. with a really long torso and I got the size large.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a mid layer - by Mike Leake The Marmot Alpinist Tech Jacket offers incredible warmth as a mid layer, as wells as practical compatibility for storing in your pack when not in use.  Not to mention quality breathability.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Had the A. Tech for about a Had the A. Tech for about a week now. I work in downtown San Francisco and the weather there early in the morning is around the 40's-50's. I do have to wear an overcoat but as soon as I get to work I can just wear the A Tech without overheating and by mid-afternoon with the incoming wind it does the job. I ordered a size small online and found that with a dress shirt on it would be impossible to put it on. T-shirt great...dress shirt not. So, luckily they have a store on Post St and I was able to exchange it. The one reason that I choose the fleece over the shell like the Approach was that according to the specs, it has any inner pocket with a headphone port. Yeah, no port! I BART in every day and use a messenger bag and would be nice to have my headphone wires under my jacket so I would quit pulling them while I'm running to the BART escalator or adjusting the strap when I get up. Even had the guys at the store look for it for me, just in case I missed it. No luck. Not a huge deal, but $120 with expectations made me sad. Otherwise, looks good and does the job for the brisk mornings. If they continue the line I would suggest a more fitted fit for slimmer waist and of course the headphone port as advertised would be nice!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feels great, looks great. The Marmot Alpinist jacket is a very attractive fleece and has a great build quality. The warmth is very good for its weight; this is really added to by the elastic bound cuffs and draw cord hem. It's also not too warm to wear indoors for an extended period, the jacket achieves a good balance. The side pockets might be one of my favorite features though. They are deeper than one would think and you belongings feel very secure in them; with other coats i'm constantly reaching to check my phone and keys.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Marmot Men's Alpinist Tech Jacket The Alpinist Jacket by Marmot is a great go anywhere, do anything jacket. I bought the jacket last summer and haven't had any problems. It has kept me warm in all types of weather east and west, ranging from rain storms to blizzard type conditions. I love the pocket in between the the zipper and the outside layer. I have found that for the price of marmot versus the price of North Face, Marmot serves a higher line of quality. Not only is it better quality, but it looks good too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fleece It's just a really comfortable fleece, and it's Marmot so you know it's quality. I got it on a price match so I got a pretty good deal on it. That said, it's worth buying at full price. Good to wear on early spring or late fall hikes, but also good to wear as a normal jacket around the city. ,,Sizing note: I'm 6ft and 180lbs and the medium fits great. It is a big snug, but that's exactly the fit I was looking for.
