The Marmot Cloudbreak 20 is a synthetic insulation sleeping bag which boasts an impressive warmth-to-weight ratio which is nearly as good as many down bags. The benefit to synthetic is uncompromising warmth without cold spots and the ability to retain heat even when wet. This versatility is key for trips where the weather might be questionable, at high dew points when condensation is prone to buildups, or for use with a bivy. The Cloudbreak has a mummy cut and cinch hood for optimal warmth retention and the feel of a full-body hug. Like your sleeping bag spoons you all night long. You'll find yourself using this bag year-round; it can handle the cold, and the full-length zipper will allow it to be used like a blanket in warmer temps.
FEATURES of the Marmot Cloudbreak 20 Sleeping Bag
Body-mapped Insulation Yields Maximum thermal efficiency without Added weight
Marmot Thermal R
Marmot Thermal R is an ultra-warm synthetic insulation for cold weather activities. Comprised of multi-channel and hollow fibers, it maximizes warmth while minimizing internal condensation and moisture. The hollow fibers are lofty and light for an excellent warmth to weight ratio. "Lofty and Light" would be a terrible name for a crime-fighting duo.

Great warmth/weight for the priceI would probably give this bag a 4.25-4.5 star rating if it were possible.
This is a great bag, I have slept it outside with no tent for the last few nights. I was wearing wool socks, and long merino wool baselayers, and a beanie.Â
It has been right around 23-28 degrees, and I slept on a lawn chair cushion on the grass. I stayed pretty warm, but did wake up to a cold face from time to time, so turned my face away from the opening and was able to sleep again.. The hood sinch is very comfy and easily adjustable, even half asleep.Â
Overall a great bag, and am able to get it packed down to the size of a small watermelon with the compression sack. Although it is fairly warm, I would be concerned to sleep in anything under ~21 degrees, especially with with no layers on.Â
For the price, it's hard to beat, but it could have a less snag-y zipper system.Â

Great BagI just used my new Marmot Cloudbreak 20 on a 60 mile hike in the Texas Panhandle where the average nightly temperature was 36 degrees with a couple of nights dipping down below 30 degrees. I was never uncomfortable. I'm very happy with this bag, its weight, its zipper, and its price. It also comes with a quality compression bag. I highly recommend this bag.

Kept out the Cold!Spent a week on the AT with 30 degree and lower temps, and this bag kept me warmth every night. The Cloudbreak 20 packed down to a perfect size for my 65 liter pack and for a synthetic bag I was happy with the overall weight. Both the hood and the foot box had more than enough room! Great synthetic bag!Â

Bought this bag for my son for backpacking and camping, kept him warm and fit well in his pack.My son and I have been doing a lot of camping and backpacking with his Boy Scout troop, and I decided it was time for a new bag for him. Wanted something that will keep him warm, that packs down reasonably well, but was not down. He is 12 and I don't trust him to keep it dry, particularly if the weather is bad. The bag worked well, kept him really warm. It could pack a little smaller, but for a synthetic it was pretty good. The cinch sack that comes with it helps to smush it down. Seems very durable, and I hope he will use it for years to come.

Great bag for a great priceThis is not the lightest or warmest, or most compressible bag. However. For the price I don't think you could find much better. I am 5' 9", 170 lbs and the regular fits like a glove. The loft is fairly decent. Unlike Marmots down bags there is not draft collar or anatomical footbox. The zipper is not the most snag free or robust that you will find; treat it gently and it'll be fine. Really a 30 degree bag, perhaps a little closer with a liner. It lacks down enough to fit easily in my 65L backpack. Very decent bag.

Warm "3 season" sleeping bagI live in Michigan and backpack fall, spring and summer. I wanted to get a sleeping bag that would hold up to a low of 30 degrees (some fall nights) and also not be too hot for 70+ degree nights in the summer. ,,,,The first time I used this sleeping bag was in April a few years ago. The temperature got down to the mid 20's at night, so it was a good way to test out the bag. Although it is rated a 20 degree bag, It was still a little chilly. I was wearing long underwear and a fleece. It wasn't unbearably cold - just uncomfortably chilly. The bag comes with a draw string near the face, so you can block out most of the cold air. The bag held up well enough in 20 degree weather, but I wouldn't recommend it for below that.,,,,For warm nights, there is a zipper by the feet to help airflow. In warm temperature you can sleep comfortably in very little clothes in this bag. ,,,,This is a great bag for a wide range of temperatures and for three season backpacking!
