I have had experience with upwards of 20 different ropes and this is by far my favorite feeling rope. It slides through belay devices comfortably, it locks off very well, and it doesn't burn you as some ropes. I have used this rope on a weekly if not bi-weekly basis for a year and a half and it is just now showing signs of wear. I have a very small spot of fraying and a slight twist in the sheath. I just ordered new one to replace it.Pros: Soft, great knots, durable for its size, light, beautiful, amazing catches, fairly kink free out of the packageCons: not dry treated, some heavier people dislike how much the rope stretches, the stickers on the end of the rope are a pain
Get this rope because it's all you need. Standard ropes are fine for us non-ice climbers. It falls into the draw, comes untied easily, and packs up small. It's easy to carry and doesn't get tangled. I climb with it at RRG.
I bought this rope with high expectations, all of which were satisfied! I have a 9.8 I use for projecting and hanging then I pull this rope out for the send! The 9.6 is noticeably smoother and lighter with all the Mammut quality. I highly recommend this rope for the avid sport climber!.
