"I was coerced into buying the MSR Women's Lightning Axis Snowshoes last winter by my fiance. He really wanted to go snowshoeing at the state park near our house. I was dubious at first, thinking that snowshoeing for such an extremely coordinated person like me could only end in disaster. It turned out that I never had a problem adjusting to the snowshoes at all, and it was just like walking normally and super good exercise as well. These shoes are lightweight, the binding system is super simple, and they are built to last. They are also made in the USA, which is always a bonus. The Lightning Axis also have ascension bars, which are a lifesaver for your calves when trekking uphill. I have since purchased the floatation tails, which allow you to carry more weight for winter backpacking without having to purchase larger snowshoes."

The Women's Lightning Axis Snowshoes by MSR. Packed with MSR's latest technologies, the Women's Lightning Axis snowshoes represent a giant leap in snowshoeing performance, ease and comfort. First, MSR's new Axis Gait Efficiency system allows you to laterally adjust bindings independently of the frame, ensuring efficient, parallel-tracking snowshoes regardless of natural toe-out and toe-in stances. Combined with an aggressive and light 360 Traction frame adapted for a women's gait, these shoes offer absolute snowshoeing efficiency. In addition, new SpeedLock bindings offer set-it and forget-it simplicity with all-terrain comfort. New Ergo Televators save you on the steeps and, of course, you get the benefit of MSR's Modular Flotation tails to provide you with the confidence and versatility you want across a broad range of snowshoeing experiences.

"Get 'em"  01/08/12

I didn't review these when I first got them because it was the end of the season. Breaking them in now and I really like them. They are lightweight and will definitely be able to stand up to the abuse I will give them if we even end up with half a winter like we had last year (which hopefully we won't). Getting them on & off is super easy. They are well worth the money. And by the way, this review really marks my transition from recreational adventurer to bad ass. I realized recently that I have gone from being the person who asks questions about outdoor adventure to the person who answers them. That was a good day.

"Great shoes"  12/14/10

Another great pair of shoes from MSR. Frame has excellent grip on steep icy climbs blurring the line. between snow shoes and crampons. Well made and looks like they will last, 22 inch seem short and not great for powder, happy that I bought them.
