The MSR Women's Lightning Ascent Snowshoes are an aggressive and ultralight snowshoe for explorers with a narrow gait. The Lightning Ascent is all about lightweight performance in a narrow frame, that will get you through any type of terrain in all conditions. The 360° Traction frames are aggressive, teethy, and are connected to the super durable ballistic fabric decking. Torsion2 crampons feature a split point, gripping the ice or snow like a champ to propel you forward upon the mountain. Use the grip end on your trekking poles to flip up the Ergo Televators to ease the strain on your calves for uphill battles, then push 'em back down when you reach flat lands. Throughout your adventure the PosiLock AT bindings secure your footwear of choice with 3 over the foot straps and a single heel strap, all freeze-resistant and easily field repairable if you run into troubles.

FEATURES of the MSR Women's Lightning Ascent Snowshoes

  • Unrivaled Traction: 360° Traction frames deliver edge-to-edge grip, and split teeth of Torsion2 crampons better distribute forces for more continuous contact-delivering unmatched traction on any terrain, in any conditions
  • Secure Attachment: Two-piece, independently conforming Women's PosiLock AT bindings create our most secure, freeze-resistant attachment for smaller footwear
  • Uphill Efficiency: Ergo Televators reduce fatigue and increase traction on the steeps with an ergonomic design that engages with a flick of a pole grip
  • Low-Profile: Narrow frames are ideal for women, those with a narrow gait, or anyone seeking the lightest snowshoe possible

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best My husband posted a review on the men's which I agree with completely. So I've just copied and pasted his. Definitely worth the purchase My wife and I moved to Colorado the end of August 2014 from Illinois. We jumped right into outdoor activities. When winter came our friends took us snowshoeing, letting use their spares. Although they worked, they also told us when we were ready to buy, they could recommend nothing but the Lightening Ascent from MSR. So as the season winds down we bought men's and women's and could not be happier. We've been through Rocky Mountain National Park, and over the Continental Divide. We can't wait for next winter!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great snowshoes, but IMHO should be wider. I have used these snowshoes every day for three months over the last three years. I have a crew on snowshoes all winter, and we have tried them all. These are definitely the best. The quality as with all MSR products is excellent, The design especially the binding is also excellent. My only criticism is that they should be wider (or that there should be a wider option available. I weigh about 235, and even with the tails I am sinking (a lot) in deep powder. More width would definitely help larger users like me stay on top, and provide more stability to prevent ankle twisting. A big plus is these are made in the US and are backed by an excellent warranty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Crampons too weak for Adirondack High Peaks I have had these snowshoes for a little more than a year. Followed the "herd" mentality and bought them because they were the most popular snowshoes in the Adirondack High Peaks. Now my crampons are bent and unusable, and MSR's web site says the exchange process could take four to six weeks. Considering the winter hiking season is only thirteen weeks long, I find that amount of time to be unacceptable. Several of my friends have the same problem, and web searches suggest MSR has known about this problem for several years. Seriously thinking about buying a different brand to get me through the rest of the season. Some of my friends already have. Nice snowshoes but I need something more reliable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Snowshoes but not for the NorthEast. Bought these to do NYS 46ers and the rest of the 4000'+ peaks in the NE. Awesome design weight and use of materials. except for using aluminum for the traction system. The nature of our trails means lots of exposed rocks even in the dead of winter and because of this it really takes its toll on the aluminum teeth. used for maybe 3 peaks and decided to sell them off befor there was nothing left. went back to using the Good ol MSR Denali accents. heavier but more durable, a true 5 star snow shoe..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome for Beginners or Experts I got these because of what they were advertised as; an extremely light snowshoe designed specifically for women. And they didn’t disappoint in terms of lightness. It barely felt like I had anything at all on my feet even after wearing these for a full 6 hours. Speaking about being in these snowshoes for so long not once did I encounter binding problems. They remained secured and un-frozen every time I took them out, regardless of how long I was on them. They performed extremely well in moderate snow levels and I love the fact of how portable they are.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They eat snow and ice like no-ones... I own various type of snowshoes from wooden structure to plastic ones, but want I tried this monster a few years ago, I was totally amazed by their ability to stay in position in high angle climb. The teeth of this snowshoe are literally useful in big mountain climb of in frozen snow. They are not so light but they are designed to climb and climb in any surface. The Revo Ascent are more light but I prefer the Lightning because you don't have any torsion in the middle of the frame... So you know that you won't slip because of any torsion of the frame. The investment worth-it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love 'em! I bought these snowshoes a couple of years ago, but didn't want to review them until I had spent some time in them. I love them. My friends have other (and cheaper) snowshoes, but I think mine are worth every penny. They don't throw snow up onto the back of your legs and rear. They are very light. They seem to track true, as evidenced by the trail they leave. They don't get ice balls under the crampons. The bindings hold very well, though they take a bit more work as opposed to my friends' snowshoes. Since we don't get a ton of snow, we have a lot of varying conditions and these snowshoes handle them very well. I will keep these forever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best out there IMHO I snowshoe pretty much every day for 3 or more months each winter. I have used MSR Denali snowshoes for 8 years and love them. I had one binding piece break after all those miles and MSR just handed me new bindings. No fuss, no muss. Great product and great customer service. When I decided to upgrade to an ascent model, needless to say I stayed with MSR and bought the Evo Ascent. As I was used to the wider track of the Denali, I bought the men's Evo rather than the women's. Still love them. Best traction for a snowshoe on the market.
