The MSR Trail Lite Duo System is a two person cookset for eating in the backcountry. The combination provides you with a single 2L, Hard-andonized aluminum pot that has a ceramic non-stick coating that is super durable as well as easy to cook in and clean. The strainer lid is clear, so you don't have to remove it to see if your water is boiling and you don't even have to remove it when it's time to strain water off your macaroni (or whatever else you're cooking). The kit also includes two DeepDish™ bowls and two double-wall insulated mugs, color coded so you don't accidentally eat your partner's spaghetti. It totally keeps their mitts off your coffee in the morning too.
FEATURES of the MSR Trail Lite Duo System
Compact: Nesting design fits two DeepDish Bowls and Double-Wall Insulated Mugs inside pot
Sized for Two: Two-liter, hard-anodized aluminum pot keeps the weight down and provides plenty of capacity for two people

Good simple pot set.I have taken this set car camping and hiking in B.C. for a year or two. In the past I have had problems with non stick coatings peeling off. This seems to have been addressed with the anodized treatment. There is a spot that has always been there where there is no white anodizing but it doesn't seem to be growing. These are a good compromise between weight and functionality. Going ultra light there are enough utensils in here for three or four people to eat off of without getting to creative. Its a good product I think the quality control could be better reference the spot on the anodizing but overall I am satisfied.

used and abusedI bought this set last summer and since then it has seen some hard times. After i cooked dinner i forgot to turn the burner off and left the empty pot cooking for almost 10 minutes before i realized. Suspecting the pot would warp and the non stick ceramic coating would warp or flake off I was pleasantly surprised to see how well it held up. the pot didnt warp and the coating didnt come off. on a seperate occasion the cookset was dropped off a ledge onto a rock bed ten feet beneath and aside from a small dent in the lid and some scratches it looked good as new. I have used and abused this set for over a year and still performs as well as when i first bought it. Love the light weight and durability of this set!

Amazing kit for 2-4 people - but ditch the mugs!Best 2-4 person pot on the market, plus a nonstick coating you can feel good about - no worries of chemicals or Teflon flaking off. The ceramic shows zero wear and tear after over a year of use. In fact the whole kit still looks brand new. Amazed that nobody else is selling ceramic coated cook gear and that MSR isn't offering much much more of it. The bowls are great shape and size for hearty portions, with no risk of spilling, and fit perfectly inside without any wasted space. BUT the mugs are horrible design - very awkward shape, impossible to clean, and too heavy - nearly 1/2 the kit weight is just the mugs! definitely not worth carrying. WIthout the mugs you can fit the two bowls, a small stove (pocket rocket, Snowpeak giga, etc.) plus a large fuel canister, kitchen towel, lighter, spices, etc. ALL inside the pot! Without the mugs this becomes an (almost) ultralight gourmet kit which you can cook real meals with, not just boil water. Love the clear lid, the measurements, and the folding handle which keeps it all together

Above and Beyond what I hopedI brought the Trail Lite Duo system on a 2 month trip to Patagonia where myself and two others depended on this pot for hot breakfast water most days and cooking for most dinners. Combined with the pocket rocket, this pot performed extraordinarily well for the three of us. Water boiled quickly (except for a few times when the wind was close to unbearable), the lid worked well to drain pasta, clean up was easy, and we were able to make enough food for the three of us (21-25 year old women). The only problem I had was that one night when we had packed the pot particularly full of pasta, the handle separated from the pot when my friend tried to drain the water. This resulted in us having to eat dirty pasta, but in the future we used our beanies as oven mitts to hold the pot while pouring out water and no more issues.
I really liked how compact everything was. Since my friends had their own dishes they brought, I left the second pot and mug at home and was thrilled that I could fit the pocket rocket in place of the second mug.

Everything you needPerfect set for 2 people (or more willing to share). Used this while cooking for 5 people, we had a second similar set but opted to reduce the number of dishes and just share the plates. Cleanup was a breeze. Seems slightly taller and skinnier than some of their other nested sets, which I found to help fit better in the pack.

Trail lit duo, do you?HI received my trail lite duo system mid winter. Since I couldn't wait until spring to try it, I went out in the snow. This was one of the best mess kits I have came across. If you're looking for a good two person kit this is it. Every friend I bring with me has loved it.
Now the features: Well it has two well sized thermal mugs, two mess bowls and the cook pot with an awesome strainer lid. For your coffees and teas the strainer is awesome for pouring your water or liquids. The two mugs come with lids and the two problems I have had with the mugs would be that A: my coffee stays too hot in the mug with its cover on. Thus taking too long to drink( I guess that could be a plus). B: the shape of the mug isn't the best angles to clean it out. Very do-able but just a little awkward to clean. But with the shape the best part as this all packs into its cook pot.
One thing I wish this did come with is some matching sporks. I bought two on the side and they fit perfect in between the mugs for packing purposes. For packing purpose too I like to throw my teas and coffees in the mugs as they are packed up. Just another way to cut space. You can fit a few paper towels in there too.
The cook pot, has an awesome ceramic liner on the inside of the pot. This = stick free. Well if you really scorch it then it might stick but wipes right out. Making it easy to clean the pot. One thing I do like too about the pot is that the bottom still looks brand new after cooking with it a dozen or so times.
All in all this is a great product for two or even one person. Take the extra mug and bowl out and you can fit your fuel canister and a little stove in it. I would highly recommend this set.

Nearly perfectI had major gear envy when my friend used this on a trip a couple of seasons ago. So much so that I ordered my own set for myself. This is a great, lightweight, compact setup for backpacking, car camping, etc. The colors are bold and easy to keep separate. I feel like a kid again drinking out of fun sippee cups. The mugs are great at keeping coffee hot too!

Great for two! This is a great setup for two people. Bowls and cups nest completely inside the pot/lid so it takes up minimal space in a pack. The pot and handle are both sturdy. I like the clear lid that lets you see what is going on inside.
There is room inside the cups to stash a lighter, salt/pepper and utensils (depending on the length).
