"Excellent, as expected" 05/16/13
Bought one for my son, since his used LoweAlpine Contour 90+15 doesn't have a hydration sleeve, and you can't afford a hole. He loves the Hydromedary. Has no worries about packing it anywhere it fits in the pack. For my REI XT 85, the grommets are perfect for the 2 hooks in the hydration sleeve. Positively no leaks at either end of the hose or at cap. A little paracord takes care of any hanging requirements. Shipped quickly and arrived in one piece -- thanks Moosejaw.
"A great product...after a little elbow grease" 09/06/12
Everything about this bag is great in my experience. The bit valve works very well...so well that you don't know the bags getting close to empty until all the water's gone (so I guess that's not so great if you're really trying to pay attention to your water intake levels, e.g. a desert hike). My one concern is that two eye loops at the top don't sync with the mechanism in my pack for holding a hydration bladder (Osprey Aether). I had to kluge a solution by tying a small piece of rope from one eyelet to the other so I could hook it on the single, centered buckle in my pack. Not ideal, but it works.
"Great for hydrating!" 06/06/12
It has not had a negative affect on the water. It is a little tougher to clean than some other hydration bags. The mouth bite is great and I have not had any problems with leaking. Sometimes it is tricky to get the cap on when it is full, but it seals quickly once you get the cap in place. The cap also makes it easy to pour to use the water for cooking. I had plenty of tube length and never had a problem getting water to flow even when it was almost empty.
"As good as the come!" 12/21/11
I got my 3-liter hydromedary a year and a half ago for a 75 mile hike. It works great! Barely any weird taste, no discoloration, and very sturdy. The only bad thing I have noticed about it is that it is kind of hard to refill since you have to hold it by the little tab next to the opening. Still that isn't much compared to the complaints I have heard of other brands. Definitely going with MSR next time I need to get a hydration pack!
"Strong with easy access top" 11/28/11
Used the 3L bag for a backpacking trip. I bought this one because I wanted to make sure I had a bag tough enough to handle the outdoors - would have liked to go lighter but didn't want to chance a tear. This bag was great for this purpose. Tough plus I could easily attach my MSR water filter directly to the bag. It was nice to grab the bite valve and be able to drink while hiking without having to fool around with finding my bottles in my pack.
"Best hydration bag on the market" 06/14/11
I love this bag so much that I now have 2 of them. The bag is indestructible. It leaves no taste to the water, the bite valve is the perfect size and the hose is solid and does not bounce around like the rubbery nalgene one do. Get one.
"Great product!" 04/05/11
Hauls the water very well. I really like the grommets at the top that allow you to hang the bag properly in a day pack or just up to dry after a day of use. Even better that the product includes all accessories you'll need to hit the trails. A MUST HAVE. Forget camel bak. MSR!!!!!!!!!!
"Best hydration bag on the market" 03/16/11
It doesn't get much better than this bag. The bag gives no flavor to the water, it hooks up great to my MSR ceramic filter, and its indestructible. I purchased the platypus hose insulation system because it very thick compared to the crappy neoprene ones other brands sell and have not had a freeze up yet with the system (still blowing back of course). My only complaint with this bag is that the lid is not attached to the bag in any way and that causes some problems when filling or drying the bag.
"Excellent Choice" 02/27/11
My wife and I each have one of these bags. These are quite functional and well designed. Material is tough and should provide many years of service. Fits right into the pack. The straw has a clip and hooks right onto the pack straps out of the way but easy to get to. We got the 3 litre versions which serves us well.
"Good for keeping water on a long hike" 01/30/11
Thought id try one of these out instead of my usual camelback reservoir. I think the material is pretty durable. Didn't notice any bad taste from the material. Wish the grommets were on the bottom for hang drying. Does what it is supposed to do, doesn't leak. Hose is a good length, can put it in the pouch in my pack and feed it through to the front.
