The MSR Hubba NX 1-Person Tent is a solo tent for backpacking the great outdoors on your own. The tent is freestanding and can be pitched quickly thanks to the single DAC Featherlite NFL pole. The tent body is a combination of 20D nylon ripstop and 15D mesh to create a barrier between you and all the little bugs on the other side. The rainfly features 1200mm Durashield™ polyurethane and silicone to protect against the rainiest days on the trail, with a floor of 30D ripstop nylon, 3000mm Durashield™ polyurethane and durable water repellent. That was a mouthful and sounded super science-y, but that is probably a good thing and you can trust you'll stay dry through the storms. The single door and single vestibule open wide for speedy entry/exit, just stake everything out with the included MiniGroundhog™ stakes. Lightweight and versatile, you can go from 2 lbs, 14 oz all the way down to 1 lb, 10 oz; just remember folks, footprint not included, it's totally sold separately.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Balance IMO the Hubba NX offers the best balance between weight, comfort and durability of all solo tents. It is well thought-out down to the details like the big mouth compression bag. Set-up and packing is fast and easy, good ventilation and views due to lots of mesh. There is a lot of headspace but it is rather narrow. A mattress fits comfortably but gear (and the dog) has to be stored in the vestibule. The light gray rainfly makes the inner of the tent bright though for wild camping green would be a better option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent comfort, and very well designed I bought this almost two years ago now and can safely say I've taken this product with my halfway across Ontario camping in the St. Lawrence lowlands all the way up to sunset country in northwestern Ontario, I've slept in this tent through wicked thunderstorms and torrential downpours, also slept in this tent in the winter with a -30 sleeping bag very comfortable and beautiful view of the cold winter stars without the rain fly on. Should be no problem storing gear while the tent fly is up unless you like to bring your entire arsenal with you. Having a small tarp to put your gear on a gear line is not a bad idea as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Solid tent but could be better I bought 4 of these tents for backcountry fieldwork this past summer. Overall myself and my crew were satisfied but not blown away by the Hubba NX. The Good: This tent is waterproof! One day we came back to camp to find that in the torrential hail/rain downpour we had experienced that afternoon one of the tents was floating in a 2 inch deep puddle. Upon un-staking and moving the tent we found that all the contents inside were completely dry. The tents also withstood some heavy downpours and relatively little condensation. The Not-so-Good: There were several aspects of the tent that put us off over the course of the summer. 1. It's heavier than other single person tents despite their streamlined minimalist feel. Having only one mesh pocket inside didn't make sense to us as an important way to cut weight... 2. The poles are bulky and can break without any prompting. One of the tents had a pole snap while it was being set up. As in, we were putting together the tent pole and it broke. This was disconcerting and not the only time I have seen MSR tent poles break under very light stress. For the weight and diameter of the tent poles I would not expect this to happen, I have used other brands of tents with lighter, smaller poles that have withstood more trying conditions better than MSR poles. 3. There was a weird smell for quite some time. The tents put off an odd rotten citrus smell for almost half the summer. We used them for ~60 days of backpacking over three months so we lived in these tents, granted we smelled pretty bad, but so did the tents and they all had the same odor. 4. These tents despite advertising 85" floor length are not meant for the tall. Two of our group were taller than 6' and they said sleeping in the tent felt like sleeping in a coffin or cocoon. The rapid way the tent walls rise meant that stretching out was difficult without having their head and feet shrouded in tent fabric. Flexing the toes outwards also meant a tightening of the head room for the taller folks. If you're short though they're a great fit! 5. The "rain gutter" that is used as one of the selling points of the tent in the overview video is great at piping rain water straight under your tent or into your vestibule. Overall: The tents worked well in a variety of summer conditions ranging from snow to rain to sun and wind. They provided relatively light and easy to setup shelter however for their price point I believe that they should have been outstanding as opposed to just okay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome all around solo tent I bought the older version of the Hubba over a year ago. Replaced another company's tent and am super happy with this one. Solid, quick to set up and easy to break down. Plus you can use it three ways: fly, screen and full set up. Its worth the cash... I also hike with at least one dog. Its tight, but I can get two dogs and me in this thing and that's great for a solo tent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excels at the Basics This tent is light as a feather. It's a breeze to set up in just seconds (really, less than a couple of minutes!). I've used mine in torrential downpours, gales, and sloppy wet snow. The Hubba NX is durable, sturdy, and watertight. It's long enough for tall backpackers; I'm 6'1" and have plenty of room to spare. Two minor quibbles: the fly zipper is a stretch to reach from the closed position and occasionally snags, and the stakes and would work better with cord loops instead of webbing loops. Overall, this tent is amazing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic 1 Person Option! After years of doing solo trips with a bivy bag and tarp I was fortunate enough to borrow a friends MSR Hubba for a 4 day trip. The tent actually weighted about 80g less than the bivy & tarp combination! I was so happy to be able to sit up and easily get dressed in the tent when raining or mosquito infiltrated, something that years of bivy never afforded! I promptly went out and got one for myself following the very first trip with it and have loved it ever since.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal for solo backpacking I took the Hubba NX with me backpacking and camping across southern Iceland in late summer. Through rain, sun, cold and wind, the Hubba held up like a true champ. The interior is the perfect size for a full-size sleeping bag/pad, plus space along the length of the tent for keeping some gear inside. My overstuffed 75L pack fit entirely within the vestibule, with extra space for my boots, stove, etc. The only quibble I have is that I wish there were more guyline attachment points for added security, but I still have no complaints. Even camping out in a surprise snowfield back home in Alaska, the Hubba served me well! For this avid backpacker, the Hubba NX is quickly becoming my go-to tent — another solid product from MSR.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The quick one I love this one. Light, super fast to set, strong fabric. Perfect when you go for a hike or backpacking. You can set up your tent in about a minute. And it gonna keep you dry even in a big thunderstorm. Before this one i had the hubba hubba hp, almosy the same thing though. I would recommend a hubba gear shed for base camping. Love it!!
