These are lightweight and durable stakes that will last for years of use and probably longer than your tent. The finish is nice and even and you arent likely going to leave these behind, the reflective cord on these help you see these at night in addition to helping you remove them. I am likely to buy these again, thanks MSR for a great product and Moosejaw for enabling my madness!
High visibility means you wont leave these behind. Light and strong means you will take these backpacking and they will last for years of adventures. MSR quality material and coatings, these look good and the coating will wear very well. I would buy these again and the price is attractive enough that I could buy these as a gift even on the most modest of budgets.
Had a set of these for my other tent that I just replaced with the Limelight 3P from Marmot and wanted to upgrade the stakes that came with that tent. These hold steadfast and are great to put in and remove in harder than usual soil. They work great for even moderately moist ground as well. Get a set of these, you won't be disappointed.
I replaced my MSR needle stakes which i believe they don't make with these. They weigh about the same and are much more effective at holding your tent in place. The needle stakes would pull out pretty easy there just wasn't much to them so they didn't grip well. I've used these in high winds with my hubba hubba and haven't had any problems at all. The are durable enough that you can pound them in with rocks and not have to worry about bending them. The are expensive but unless you're going to leave them in the woods they will last forever.
Strong, relatively light, but bulkier than expected. There is just more aluminum there than I need. Great stakes for a car camping tent. They would suit some alpine conditions very well too. But I mostly stick to the Appalachians. Already placed an order for the mini's. Hopefully they are better suited for Appalachian backpacking. I should mention that the cord pulls are made from MSR reflective cord which is great. I keep tons of this cord around and use it for anything I can around camp. Glows very bright at night when hit with a flashlight or headlamp.
These are the best tent stakes ive ever used. They are strong enough to be pushed through hard ground with your foot with no worries about it bending. The reflective string on the ends make them very easy to spot at night. All around great product.
These are by far the easiest tent stakes I've ever worked with. They're super-sturdy (stood up well against a windstorm on their first outing) but lightweight and they're easy to get into the ground even when you're dealing with really dense soil. As others have noted, the color makes them easy to see, but I'd still advise caution at night as the edges are very sharp.
Pros: very strong, easy to stake and remove, smart colourCons: none that I have found yetI've used these pegs in a variety of topsoils. They are very solid, and a well though out design for 3 season use. The red stands out against the ground. Easy to pound or push in, and the notch holds your guy-lines in place, no problem. They are very lightweight to boot. Do a practice run to figure out how many you really need to pitch your tent properly, pack 1 extra and you are set to go.
These tent stakes were perfect for what we were needing. They are light weight and go in the ground very easily. These stakes are also highly visible, so you do not have to worry about losing one.
