Extra floatation on demand!I purchased these coincidently with my snowshoes then left for a two week long backcountry backpacking trip through deep MN snow. Because of the extended length of the trip larger loads were necessary. The tails provided the float I needed then detached for stretches through the wooded sections, something the others with regular long frame snowshoes couldn't do wich made getting around fallen trees more difficult. Upon returning my friend promptly sold his old snowshoes and got the same setup I have. There were zero issues with freeze up and installation and removal is simple without having to remove the shoe. The addition of a large carabiner or S clip to hold them together clipped to you're pack makes for quick conversion without slowing down and cooling off.

Great product, makes snowshoes much more versatileI got these to help keep my snowshoes from sinking into deep fluffy snow. I only need them in fresh powder that's over a foot deep but they make quite a big difference. The MSR system is brilliant and allows you to decide whether you want the maneuverability of short shoes or the flotation of longer ones. Also keeps the cost of snowshoeing down and makes my adventures in the snow all the more enjoyable.

ExcellentI've had these for years and they offer good flotation for walking in powder. Make sure that you tighten well because I have lost one in the past in deep powder after it presumably loosened up. They also hold up well with little wear showing.
