"Probably my favorite thing." 04/18/13
My 4L has been with me for over five years of abuse and it hasn't complained yet. I had to replace the cap because it got all chewed up from constant use - that's my fault though - and that's the only part of the drom that has shown damage. They're also super useful as a pillow. There might be other options out there for collapsible water containers but I doubt many will wear as well as this one does.
"Super solid and not a wallet killer" 03/04/13
These guys are reasonably light (when empty) and easy to deal with. It has a good flow from the little spigot, you can hang the bag from a tree and it comes out fast enough to wash your hands under it, but not fast enough that you feel rushed doing it :) it pours neatly when you take the cap all the way off to fill a Nalgene. The only drawback is that the straps are very slim, so when the bigger guys get full, it'll hurt to carry the drom by the straps. As far as I'm concerned, the straps are for hanging, i hold it from the bottom, so this has never bothered me. But it seems to frustrate some people. This is the product of choice for NOLS on their monthlong expeditions.
"Left a plastic taste in the water" 02/28/13
Very durable bag and easy to carry. I would use it only if I needed something that I wanted to be able to carry around a camp or work site and set on rocks, sticks, etc. or have somewhat better freezing protection and not keep in a backpack with clothes. It definitely left a plastic-like taste in the water and is heavier than a plastic container. It's also hard to clean on the inside if it gets dirty. I would rather take something like a Platypus water tank, which is a single solid material, even if not as durable. It is also hard to pour from, as the bag has a tendency to fall over. Niche use.
"Perfect for carrying extra water" 12/08/12
Droms are great, they're the perfect way to carry your extra water supply. As opposed to water bottles, their size minimizes as you use the water, and they're much easier to carry inside your pack. They do take a little finagling to fill up all the way, but once you figure it out, it's no big deal. The 3 different openings (large cap, small cap and spout) make pouring control super easy.
"LOVE THIS BAG!! BUY IT NOW!!!" 09/30/12
I have used this bag for a while now and i LOVE it.. I got the 3 litre bag and it fit perfect in my bag. i got the hydration tube also to use on the go while hiking. This bag is soo tough! unless youre stabbing it with a knife dont expect any leaks!
"Fantastic for hauling." 05/04/12
This product was purchased in conjunction with the Katadyn Vario Water Filter. The filler neck on the dromedary has the same size as a standard Nalgene 32 oz bottle which makes a great combo with the water filter, just screw on the bag and you have plenty of water for camp kitchen, coffee and water in the night. I purchased the 4 liter size which worked out well for 2-3 backpackers in our group. Nothing worse than running out of water on the trail or having to stop and filter water at camp multiple times, this is a real time saver and is not too much extra weight.
"Love it." 02/18/12
I've used the 4L size on backpacking trips in the Adirondacks and White Mountains and have been very pleased with it. It seems very-well constructed and is super durable. It's a great lightweight water carrier that doesn't take up much room when empty and is really useful for lugging water back to base camp. Overall, I think it's a great product and would definitely recommend it.
"Great bag if you don't have to carry it" 02/05/12
We took a couple of these to the California desert and were very pleased with their performance. I would, however, tell you not to underestimate the weight of water on the trail. We had to repack and delegate the bags to one person and we carried their gear.
"Best hydration bag on the market" 01/16/12
I purchased the MSR hydro light bags and the MSR Dromedary bags. I like both styles but favor the Dromedary more. The Dromedary weights just a fraction more but the quality and wear is superior to the lighter MSR bags. Both products are excellent but if you prefer not to worry about being gentle with your hydration bag, I suggest the Dromedary. Also, make sure to get the hydration hose with your Dromedary bag. I use the 2L size Dromedary bag with hydration hose instead lugging around those old Naglene bottles. The Dromedary bag is exceptionally well made and can take a beating on the trail.
"The next best thing to bringing a camel on your trip" 12/28/11
Great way to haul water when you're off the beaten path. Slips into the water pouch in all my packs with ease. Black material keeps sunlight out (no mold growth) and is sturdy enough to sling onto rocks.
"heavy duty water bag" 12/26/11
Different size bags for whatever water carrying purpose you have. I have a 6L that I use at base camp filled up and usualy put between 2 and 4L in it when hiking depending on where the next water is. A very, very durable bag. I have used it as a pillow as well.
"This thing is awesome." 12/21/11
Definitely a useful piece of kit. Great for serious expeditions -- you wont be let down. I took this thing on the back of my bike 500 miles on a tour, never had a problem. Don't hesitate to buy.Smaller is better for these. They get real heavy real quick.
