"Two is One & One is None..." 04/27/11
If your like me, awesome, then you should have spares because you actually use your gear. Its the same great quality that we have all come to expect from MSR. Id hate to be getting ready for a weekend trip & have my only pump break in the car or my wife forgetting to pack it, ok ok i said i had it but that was just a one time deal.... Everyone makes mistakes!!!!
"GET IT and make your old pump the back up" 05/27/08
A much improved product that i am so very happy with. first, it is much more streamline making it easier to pack. it fits very well inside my 2 liter steel alpine msr cookset, along with the stove itslef and the wind screen. it does not seem to get enarly as dirty as the other pump did. the best improvement is the valve. on the old pump where fuel control was changed by a plus and minus brass cirlce i noticed a lot of stress to the blue plastic housing for the valve control. mine was cracking. in the new model this stress point has been totally eliminated by a metal housing
"Don't want to break one and not have a spare." 09/13/07
I have never had a problem with a MSR pump, but I always keep an extra one just in case. Now that I switched to the DragonFly, I had to purchase one that was specifically made for that stove, which is a little bit of a negative. Hopefully the stove makes up for it.
"Same basic MSR pump design that has been in use for years and works." 02/23/06
This pump is pretty much the same as the older MSR pumps with one exception. Instead of the metal wheel that you turn to control fuel valve, it has been replaced with a small wire handle threaded through the valve screw. It folds in to save a tiny bit of space and shaves from weight from the metal wheel, but seems a little flimsy and possibly less durable. I'm a little skeptical, but will wait to see how it performs in the field over long term use before passing judgement on this change.
