The Coyote Snow Picket by MSR has stood atop the world's highest peaks as well as in countless snowy playgrounds right here in North America. They are extruded from aircraft-grade heat-treated aluminum, which minimizes weight and maximizes strength. We modified the T-shaped cross-section and put more metal where strength and bending resistance are needed most. The result is a 20% increase in holding power over other pickets because our design exposes more surface area to the snow. Coyotes are convenient, too—attachment points are at 3-inch/7.6cm intervals along the neutral axis.

DECENT FEATURES of the MSR Coyote Snow Picket

  • Superior Anchoring: Designed to expose more surface area to the snow, resulting in up to 20% more holding power than other pickets
  • Convenient Attachment: Holes are located at 3" / 7.6 cm intervals along the neutral axis

"Just the extra bit of security needed for those long technincal peaks you've been looking to do!"  04/02/11

Can be used as a picket or deadman... Great lightweight option for an achor especially if you're moving over glaciated terain in a team of two. It's always nice when you and your partner don't die... :)

"Standard gear"  03/17/11

These are the standard, quick and easy to use. Use it as a picket or a deadman. Get the 2ft 3ft is overkill.

"The best snow protection ever."  10/24/10

I have used Coyote pickets from Canada to argentina and almost everything in between, its the best for its weight, it's better than V stakes because it don't damage anything with sharpen edges, but it's still accurate for hard snow placements, it's really strong even for save a friends live in Toclarraju (Peru)where they felt 30 meters to a belay build with 2 of these, these stakes are lighter than omega an SMS ones, Coyotes are more versatile than a deadman and dot have the problems of the wire. i preferred nineteen inches because i thing that 22 is just too much.I really love them.

"Are you really still thinking?"  10/16/09

You know you need it and you know its the best out there so buy it already. It is a bomber anchor there is no other way to put it. I carry 2 at all times and go with the 2 footers.

"NICE!!!"  09/15/09

MSR makes some bitchin gear. They pound in pretty good without having to go too ape crazy with the hammer. Once in properly there bomb proof and certainly are a welcome anchor on a empty slope. Also during the summer months they work perfect in sand to anchor your kayak or rubber arm floaties while comming to shore.
