"Do we really need to child proof everything?"
Do we really need to put child proof caps on fuel bottles? While these caps serve there intended purpose of keeping kids out, they are prone to issues of also keeping you out as well. If you carry your fuel on the outside of your pack and it heats up in the sun, now your tank has even more pressure. That makes these a a bear to actually get off since you have to push down and turn at the same time like a Tylenol bottle. While it hasn't happened yet I dread the day I'm out in the winter months and those little internal safety tabs shatter or break off in the cold and now I have a bottle full of fuel that I can't get open because it just turns and turns. To much of a liability in my book so I ditch these and get the regular ones on all my bottles i take out into the field. I only use these on bottles in the house to keep them sealed up from bugs. But I won't rely on them when I'm out in the wilderness. These should be an option and not the standard on all new bottles!
