"Great water bottle, sturdy, sexy, cool."

Got the white bottle as it was the coolest looking. Not my opinion, just fact. The plastic ring is very nice looking, but like other reviewers said, it will make heating over open flames a bad idea. I use it for ice water mainly, so it's not a big deal. The one-handed operation is pretty sweet, just make sure you practice. It can be difficult at first.I have a hyperflow water filter from MSR and it came with another cap, which is nice for a replacement when this one breaks, if ever. The filter attaches directly to the small opening, so you pump directly into this bottle. Just don't hold it upside down, it will leak (there is not o-ring on the filter).I have the 1 L bottle and it fits into my car's cup holder, perfectly, which I wasn't sure it would do.My one gripe about this product is, the smaller Mountain Safety Research lettering on the opposite side to the nice logo is starting to rub off from the condensation and rubbing in my pack. I've only used it on two hard trips.
I love MSR, so I purchased this waterbottle and let me tell you, it holds water like a champ!! Keeps the water nice and cool and if you run out of water, it can be used as a weapon. I'd take my chances against a bear with this thing. That bear comes at me and I'd mollywhop him right in the head. Seriously I think it is nicely built, very rugged thus far, does what it is supposed to do very well, but I havent climbed K2 with it or anything serious like that (yet). Keep up the good work MSR!!
"Great bottle with one serious design flaw."

Normally I would be giving MSR 5 stars but they really overlooked this bottle. While the design of the bottle itself is awesome (it has a triangular bottom with round top) the threading of the bottle is plastic, which limits it's use in the backcountry. The major advantage of having a stainless steel bottle is throwing it on the fire to melt your drink if it's frozen. With the plastic threads you can't do that.I'll stick to my Guyot Designs stainless bottle in colder environments.
I recently bought this bottle and I'm quite impressed with it (as impressed as you can be for a water bottle I suppose). I've always had positive experiences with MSR gear and this one doesn't seem any different. I took it on a camping trip this past weekend and it held up wonderfully, even after I dropped it a couple times! The dual opening lid is a really cool design. The large opening is great and the smaller opening opens easily as long as you don't have gloves on. I found that the red ring at the mouth was comfortable to drink from, because it kept my lips freezing to the stainless steel! Overall a great buy if you're looking for a durable, functional water bottle!
