"Perfect boot for an Antarctic Summer" 11/24/10
I have been working in Antarctica for the past few months and these boots have been ideal. Warm enough to keep my feet from feeling the cold and solid enough to do a 4 week Search and Rescue training course without a single bruise or blister. They froze one night in my bivvy bag and I had some chilly feet. It was surprising how little time they took to warm up (around 10 minutes) in -15C with winds 45 knots. The edges are well balanced and I've been able to bang around some of the smaller ice cliffs without crampons or microspikes. I've yet to try them out in winter, but in a few months, we'll see how they go on our mission to ice climb some local peaks.
"Great Mountaineering/Ice Climbing Boots" 09/16/10
I took these ice climbing and on hikes to break them in for Rainier. They fit my feet instantly and I stayed blister free, even during break-in periods! If you have "Sportiva feet," i.e. narrow and love their climbing shoes as much as I do, these'll fit like a glove. My feet stayed warm and dry with one pair of liners + one pair of mountaineering socks on Rainier at 10ºF and I get cold quickly. My feed got pretty hot on the spring/summer break in hikes, which is to be expected.I had trouble with a bruised big toe after it bashed into the front of the boot the entire way down Rainier. But with a bit of tightening, maybe a thicker sock, I'd have been fine. Bottom line, they're awesome!
"Great boot - Comfortable on all terrain" 01/30/08
I bought this mountaineering boot because I already own a pair of La Sportiva Trango and I am extremly satisfied with the fit of the Trango. Now, I needed boots which are more appropriate for cold weather and using crampons for an extended period of time. My first impression after receiving the boots was how comfortable they felt right away. I then wore them on a climbing trip to the Andes were I climbed several peaks between 5000m and 6000m range with climbing times between 7 and 10 hours. All I can say is that the boots are awesome. I had no break-in time, yet I never developed any blisters and the lacing of the shoe is genius as it allows you to independently tie the lower part and the up
