LA SPORTIVA FIT GUIDE and INFO

La Sportiva footwear is built and offered on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives them four extra sizes per size run, and ultimately gives you a better fit.

Please review La Sportiva's size conversion chart above to help determine your ideal size. Below you will find additional information about how to fit and break in the different styles of La Sportiva footwear, which will also help guide you to the correct size.

ROCK CLIMBING SHOES:
• As a general rule soft shoes like climbing shoes require a tighter fit, or about two to three sizes smaller than your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva recommends you fit your trad climbing shoes one to two sizes under your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva offers a lot of lasts, and each offers a different fit and feel. Remember to factor in potential stretching.
• Unlined slip-lasted shoes tend to stretch a bit more than lined shoes, or about one full size.
• Lined shoes stretch about a half size.

ROCK CLIMBING SHOE FIT SYSTEMS:
• PERFORMANCE FIT - offers a high performance fit and a downturned last.
• TECH FIT - a more technical fit and a last with neutral profile.
• COMFORT FIT - a comfortable fit and a last with more volume and a neutral profile.

HIKING, BACKPACKING and MOUNTAINEERING BOOTS:
• Find your US Size in the guide above, then find the Euro Size conversion and add one half size.
• The ideal size holds your toes ever so slightly away from the front of the boot while the lacing system is snug across the top of your arch.
• If you can try to boots on beforehand, make sure you wear the same size and weight socks you would typically wear with the boots, and any orthotics or custom footbeds you use.
• It is ideal to fit boots later in the day since feet are prone to swell slightly as a day progresses.
• Wear your boots indoors only until you are confident about the fit.
• Your foot should feel snug (not tight) from the arch back into the heel pocket with just a minimum lift as you walk. If your heel lifts make sure the lacing is snug and not too loose.
• Your toes should NOT touch the front of the boot, but when you kick the toe into the floor, you should know where the front of the boot is. You want just enough room to wiggle your toes.
• If your toes or sides of your feet feel squished, most likely the width is too narrow and the boot will not work for you.
• If your toes touch the front of the boot, most likely it is too short and you need the next half size up.
• Make sure to keep all original packaging that came with your boots until you are sure that you are happy with your purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed You can't really grow with this shoe. I bought it as a beginner and outgrew it within two months. It doesn't edge very well and the rubber is not sticky at all. It would be passable for gym climbing (where you're using defined footholds) but on outdoor rock where you're smearing on tiny edges or rock faces it really sucks. I replaced this with the La Sportiva Mythos for multi-pitch alpine climbing and 5.10's Anasazi LV for sport climbing and I like both of them MUCH better. The Mythos is also a good shoe for beginners that I wish I bought in the first place!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality shoe Overall, I've been using these shoes since March 2013, climbing about 2 times per week at an indoor gym. I've only climbed with them outdoors on one occasion, so I can't speak to their quality in that regard. They are holding up great--no obvious signs of wear. The only reason I marked them down slightly is their fit--I think they run slightly big. You may want to order half a size down if you are in between two sizes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stylin I bought these for my lil sis. It took her a month to find an excuse to make it to the gym, but she loved them once she got them on. They edge like a pair of sportiva's should and she liked them on the smear. Not too over aggressive and comfortable for long climbs. I ordered her street shoe size and they were perfect. She wasn't too thrilled about having to lace her shoes each time, though, having come from some velcros.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Girlfriend favorite pair of shoes I bought this shoes to my girlfriend as an anniversary present...And I was scarred about the fact that they werent going to fit her..I was wrong, SHE TOTALLY LOVE THEM...The shoes are beautiful, comfortable and has a great grip on any kind of rock (believe me we have tried a lot of them)...I recommend to buy one size less than you normally use, women case.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but don't last super long I do a lot of gym climbing because I live where there aren't a ton of rocks around but I've been wearing these for about a year and I love them but its definitely time for a new pair because they are super polished out and the bottom of one of them somehow got a little chunk scraped out of it. I really recommend them for first time climbers though

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These shoes rock!! I've recently got into rock climbing and have been wearing a pair of hand me down climbing shoes for awhile now. I took a step forward and purchased these bad lads and love them. They are so much more comfortable than my other ones and the sizing is true. The rubber sticks to the tiniest features. Buy them... they rock (no pun intended!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fit great these are my first shoes and i love them, they fit great and are super comfy. it took a while to get used to the high heel, but once i got them broke in i loved them. i also like that they tongue is padded so when you tie them tight they dont kill you feet. the shoe strings are way long which is starting to annoy me, but over all i love them

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice shoes, good edging. I bought these shoes in October, and they've been great ever since. The sideways loop at the back makes putting them on easier, although the laces are somewhat annoying. They're just padded enough, and pretty much perfect for what I've used them for- haven't gotten outside yet, so in the gym, several times a week.
