LA SPORTIVA FIT GUIDE and INFO

La Sportiva footwear is built and offered on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives them four extra sizes per size run, and ultimately gives you a better fit.

Please review La Sportiva's size conversion chart above to help determine your ideal size. Below you will find additional information about how to fit and break in the different styles of La Sportiva footwear, which will also help guide you to the correct size.

ROCK CLIMBING SHOES:
• As a general rule soft shoes like climbing shoes require a tighter fit, or about two to three sizes smaller than your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva recommends you fit your trad climbing shoes one to two sizes under your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva offers a lot of lasts, and each offers a different fit and feel. Remember to factor in potential stretching.
• Unlined slip-lasted shoes tend to stretch a bit more than lined shoes, or about one full size.
• Lined shoes stretch about a half size.

ROCK CLIMBING SHOE FIT SYSTEMS:
• PERFORMANCE FIT - offers a high performance fit and a downturned last.
• TECH FIT - a more technical fit and a last with neutral profile.
• COMFORT FIT - a comfortable fit and a last with more volume and a neutral profile.

HIKING, BACKPACKING and MOUNTAINEERING BOOTS:
• Find your US Size in the guide above, then find the Euro Size conversion and add one half size.
• The ideal size holds your toes ever so slightly away from the front of the boot while the lacing system is snug across the top of your arch.
• If you can try to boots on beforehand, make sure you wear the same size and weight socks you would typically wear with the boots, and any orthotics or custom footbeds you use.
• It is ideal to fit boots later in the day since feet are prone to swell slightly as a day progresses.
• Wear your boots indoors only until you are confident about the fit.
• Your foot should feel snug (not tight) from the arch back into the heel pocket with just a minimum lift as you walk. If your heel lifts make sure the lacing is snug and not too loose.
• Your toes should NOT touch the front of the boot, but when you kick the toe into the floor, you should know where the front of the boot is. You want just enough room to wiggle your toes.
• If your toes or sides of your feet feel squished, most likely the width is too narrow and the boot will not work for you.
• If your toes touch the front of the boot, most likely it is too short and you need the next half size up.
• Make sure to keep all original packaging that came with your boots until you are sure that you are happy with your purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from get over the flowers and get in these shoes This shoe would be 5/5 just like the mens VS and for GOOD REASON, if it wasn't for some whiners who couldn't handle a barely noticeable print on a small strip of leather around the shoe. GET OVER IT! This is an amazing, precise, sticky shoe that every lady climber should own. Ok, as long as it fits you. I ordered 2 sizes to try and ended up going 2 full sizes down from my street. Surprisingly easy to get into, and the heel sucks your foot in and keeps it there. The break in is WORTH IT and they'll start forming to you faster than you think thanks to the unlined footbed (I think the leather feels much better on the skin and no synthetic stink)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect shoe! -These are the second pair of shoes I've owned and I would recommend them to almost anyone. I started out with a less aggressive shoe, which I believe is the right choice when learning how to climb. ,,-Great for overhanging climbs, crimpy slab climbs, and pretty much everything. Very aggressive shoe and extremely durable.,,-Because the Miura VS rubber is so strong, they are quite painful in the beginning. However after breaking them in, they have completely formed to my feet. ,,-I am a size 8 street shoe and bought a size 6. perfect fit for me---however some people would argue that they would be a half size too small--but that's how I like my climbing shoes to fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from too good that i just had to buy another! bought my first pair of la sportivas and it was a perfect fit! haha. despite having slim feet, the miura vs really fits quite well. its good for lead and bouldering and the rubber is really awesome for edging. no gaping mouth at the front after long usage and the fit is quite comfortable. (testarossas were more comfortable for me, but the heel cup didnt fit as well.),,,,love the flower prints. gives a different feel! all in all, my shoes lasted for about a year and a half. its a great performance shoe!,,,,bad points: it stretches after awhile, but who says we need toe-killer shoes to perform well when we climb! plus the rubber at the heel seems like the first to peel open after awhile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turns 5.10s to 5.6s All around great shoe. Great for edging and standing on tiny crystals or pebbles that it makes you wonder sometimes how is it possible you haven't fallen off yet. Rubber is plenty sticky. Great sensitivity, but not so much that it hurts your feet to feel every feature on the rock. ,,,,I have this shoe in two sizes, one 1/2 size smaller and the other true to my street shoe size. For harder & short routes, I'll use the smaller pair for precise foot placements. The larger pair gives me all day comfort for longer routes but I'm not sacrificing precision.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME. short persons dream shoe. In love. Normally wear an 8.5 or 9 in street shoes, sized down to a 38 and they are perfectly snug. Pretty darn comfortable for how tight and down turned this shoe is. Awesome edging ability and sticky enough to smear on nothing. My favorite thing about this shoe is the stability of the toe box. Im 5'3, sometimes harder bouldering or sport routes end up being very stretchy for me and these shoes allow you to have the confidence that you need in your feet when you are on your tip toes on even the smallest nubs. They have definitely helped make v5 moves feel 5x's easier then my less aggressive shoes. Overall I'd say they are an amazing addition to any progressive climbers shoe collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are amazing on teeny tiny holds. I've been wearing the woman's katana for 5 years (I am a woman btw), and have always had some issues with the katana smooshing the main knuckle on my big toe. These Miuras don't seem to have that issue. (Admittedly I got this in a 36 while my katanas are a 35.5, so that could be why.) I decided after wearing the katanas for 5 years that I wanted something a little more aggressive for more overhanging and/or techy sport routes. These aren't so drastically down turned that they cause my arches to cramp... just a notch up from the katana. After only a short time wearing them I'm pretty impressed with my ability to edge on teeny tiny foot holds that I didn't feel as stable on in my katanas.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from These shoes are pretty sweet! Super aggressive The toe is AMAZING. They're pretty low volume for narrow feet and those three straps are great because make the shoe fit evenly on both sides. I use them both indoors and outdoors for sport climbing and bouldering, and they're great for everything. They smear like a dream and they're rad on slab. The best part is they were completely broken in after about three long sessions of climbing. I have long feet and wear a street shoe size of about 10.5 and I bought these in a 38, which is about 3 sizes down. They stretched just enough to be reasonably comfortable.,,The only thing I don't like about them is that they're white, which is a very silly color for a climbing shoe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great great great Of course, they're good, and I'm glad they finally came out with a womens velcro version. Velcro is nice.. the shape of the shoe is great. They seem really durable and like they will last a loooong time, and no one that I know who has any version of Miuras has anything but the best to say about them. Sizing was hard - I went way down from my street size becasue of the downtown, but since basically no store carries these, I had to order a few sizes to get it right. The flowers, though. Gross. How many women climbers really want that kind of thing on their shoe?
