"Great for technical! not so great for warmth"  03/15/11

Great first shoe for my first trip ice climbing. Light weight and work really well with my M10's. I would recommend for staying light and efficient. My feet did get a little cold a few times. But, I have always had a problem with keeping them warm... Still, good shoe which helped make a great trip!

"Excellent alpine ice boot"  04/28/10

This Trango boot is light weight and delivers high performance on technical alpine ice. They are stiff enough for all but vertical water ice. While not designed for the trail, with careful attention to lacing and how I walk, I find I can wear them on the approach without tearing up my feet. They have kept my feet warm, though so far I've only worn them in the teens.

"A warm and comfortable boot"  03/10/10

My first pair of ice climbing/mountaineering boots ever. A great boot by a proven company. They have a stiff sole for hitting vertical ice, but it's shaped perfectly for making walking on flat ground not totally uncomfotable. I took them out this year when it was in the single digits and my feet were still warm. Totally satisfied with this purchase and would recommend these boots to everyone.

"Would look for something else...Asolo?"  02/13/10

I purchased these because they were light and fit my narrow foot. Have used them several times and they tear up my feet - especially on the top where the laces tie. Never had that problem with my old Asolo's.

"Hand-made Italian leather shoes are just for metros. Go one-and-half sizes up from your city shoe"  11/20/09

If you’re serious, you need to consider these. Sweet style handmade in Italy. Don’t get cheap boots; save and work for the best-fit you can afford. La Sportiva is serious about the perfect fit. If your first try ain't great, consider these can be crafted in five widths – America tends to be stocked with a medium width, Japanese a wider foot, Europe something narrower. If they are too tight, tell your La Sportiva dealer how wide your foot is between the outsides of your little and big toe knuckles. They’ll work with Moosejaw to supply the best gear. Strap-on and automatic crampons fit firm. The boots firmness is suited for mixed alpine climbing in the Teton and Chamonix summers.

"Perhaps the perfect all around ice/alpine/mixed boot. Light, warm, comfortable."  05/13/09

I'm an admitted La Sportiva junkie and these boots only confirmed my addiction. As always, they are amazingly comfortable out of the box. On the trail, they hike efficiently and comfortably. Plenty warm for this time of year (April/May) in the Rockies. I've only owned them for a few weeks, but so far they have astounded me on easy rock, spring ice, and alpine mixed. The only noticeable flaw in these boots is the increasing age of the user. If you're trying to decide on a single pair of boots to do everything, this is as close as I've found.

"Just one pair of boots?"  02/12/08

I've seen this boot on 10 mile approaches. Seen the same boot on different feet on a 5.9 alpine rock route and really hard modern mixed stuff. Same boot different feet again again at -23C on Weeping Wall. The boot will do anything you require. Not the warmest boot at -20C or the best on steep ice and not the best boot for a 10 mile walk but they will work just fine. Last is a little wider in the toe than the Nepal Evo. And a good bit lighter in weight as well. Takes any modern clip on crampon and the lace system is dead simple. One of the few really generalized mtn boots from Sportiva.

"Great light weight and stiff boot"  11/07/07

I wore these boots silver boots for an AI3 Alpine Ice Climb followed by a low fifth class rock climb to gain the summit of North Peak. They worked great, even felt okay on the long walk back to the trailhead. It’s nice when you only have to bring one pair of foot wear on a trip. I also have the same size boot in the La Sportiva Trango EVO red boots. I can use the same crampons on booth pairs of boots with out making any adjustments. So now I have a plan, silver boots when it’s about the ice and red boots when its not.
