The La Sportiva Olympus Mons EVO Boot is a double boot for high altitude mountaineering. When the peak is 8000 meters, the conditions turn from harsh to extreme and your feet need all the help they can get out there. At 49.86 ounces, these puppies are considered lightweight, so step inside and just revel in the PE thermal insulating inner boot. The outer boot has a Cordura® lined upper with some closed cell foam to insulate, as well as a Vibram® rubber rand for plenty of durability. The built in gaiter comes up high, preventing snow and water from soaking on in with Cordura® and Kevlar® fabrics that are incredibly durable and waterproof. With or without crampons, these monsters will help you climb to the top.

FEATURES of the La Sportiva Olympus Mons EVO Boot

  • PE thermal insulating inner boot combined with a synthetic insulated thermo-reflective outer boot for a toasty warm performance fit
  • Highly insulated vibram polyethylene sole with rubber edging platform and TPU midsole for excellent step-in crampon compatibility
  • Cold weather, high altitude double boot for extreme conditions

La Sportiva footwear is built and offered on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives them four extra sizes per size run, and ultimately gives you a better fit.

Please review La Sportiva's size conversion chart above to help determine your ideal size. Below you will find additional information about how to fit and break in the different styles of La Sportiva footwear, which will also help guide you to the correct size.

• As a general rule soft shoes like climbing shoes require a tighter fit, or about two to three sizes smaller than your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva recommends you fit your trad climbing shoes one to two sizes under your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva offers a lot of lasts, and each offers a different fit and feel. Remember to factor in potential stretching.
• Unlined slip-lasted shoes tend to stretch a bit more than lined shoes, or about one full size.
• Lined shoes stretch about a half size.

• PERFORMANCE FIT - offers a high performance fit and a downturned last.
• TECH FIT - a more technical fit and a last with neutral profile.
• COMFORT FIT - a comfortable fit and a last with more volume and a neutral profile.

• Find your US Size in the guide above, then find the Euro Size conversion and add one half size.
• The ideal size holds your toes ever so slightly away from the front of the boot while the lacing system is snug across the top of your arch.
• If you can try to boots on beforehand, make sure you wear the same size and weight socks you would typically wear with the boots, and any orthotics or custom footbeds you use.
• It is ideal to fit boots later in the day since feet are prone to swell slightly as a day progresses.
• Wear your boots indoors only until you are confident about the fit.
• Your foot should feel snug (not tight) from the arch back into the heel pocket with just a minimum lift as you walk. If your heel lifts make sure the lacing is snug and not too loose.
• Your toes should NOT touch the front of the boot, but when you kick the toe into the floor, you should know where the front of the boot is. You want just enough room to wiggle your toes.
• If your toes or sides of your feet feel squished, most likely the width is too narrow and the boot will not work for you.
• If your toes touch the front of the boot, most likely it is too short and you need the next half size up.
• Make sure to keep all original packaging that came with your boots until you are sure that you are happy with your purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the boot you need. I try not to be smug, It is not a noble trait but when we were given the order to quickly leave Camp 2 on Cho Oyu because of deteriorating weather, I couldn't help but feel a bit smug. As we sat in our tent, putting our boots on, I did the 1 pull lace thing and even in the o2 deprived air, had my boots on in 2 minutes Ok, i didn't time it but you know what I mean My partner on the other hand, was fiddling with laces, cursing and calling me names. The name calling, is like what I imagine men receive when women are in labor. It just wasn't called for..Anyways, great boots, i love them and permit me to feel a little smug about that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Probably the best mountaineering "Single Boot System" available. These boots are designed for very cold weather, high altitude climbing. I got them to use on Denali and, hopefully, Everest. They're expensive, but so are frostbitten toes, so it's a good investment. With these boots, you don't need overboots or gaiters (they actually use Kevlar material on the sides). The lacing system on both the inner and outer boot is unique and superfast, as is the outer zipper - you'll leave your climbing buddies in the dust getting ready in the morning! The boots are suprisingly lightweight and comfortable.,,,,You'll want to get at least one full size (and mabybe 1-1/2 sizes) larger than your normal shoe size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great high altitude mountaineering boot. These boots are great, but just make sure your going into cold temperatures. I purchased these for an Aconcagua climb but wanted to break them in and get use to them prior to the trip. Took these bad boys up Mt. Baker and my feet have never sweated so much in my life. I could ring my socks out. Bottom line, your going to have warm feet. They are made stiff and in breaking them in, expect a little shin bang, it's a packaged deal. The only problem I have had with them thus far is one of the hooks on the booties broke. Good ole' moosejaw is taking care of me though and fixing the problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very warm and Great fit VERY warm boots that fit well right out of the box. These seem like just the ticket for a planned Spring trip to Denali. I was initially skeptical about the rather funky lacing system. Was worried that I would not be able to lace them up efficiently with gloves on, when it was cold, when I was tired, etc. However, after I spent a little time fine tuning the lacing system and did a few practice runs with the gloves on it seemed pretty much second nature - even easier since nothing to tie. They have a comfortable rocker so they are good to walk in and are also stiff enough to edge well. They wouldn't be my first choice for an ice climbing excursion but are more than adequate for the typ

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ahh Moosejaw to the rescue again.. The first choice boot wasn't avail in the size we required, Moosejaw offered us this boot as a replacement option. We weren't convinced at first but once it arrived we gave it a go. It worked out well for the conditions its was going to be used in and the insulation properties are well suit for the conditions of Antarctica.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toasty Warm and Comfortable. Toasty warmth, super comfortable, easy to put on. It ties up with one gloved hand while everyone else is fumbling with their overboots or gaiters. Instant break-in. This is made for 100% glacier/snow use. Rubber sole is super soft so don't break it in on rocks or trail as you'll wear the rubber down prematurely. Get a size up that allows for expedition socks/liner and allow your feet to expand when pushing it. Awesome quality overall and it looks soooooooo cool too.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not impressed I saw two guys break the lace up system on Denali last summer. Both had pretty bad shin and toe bang at the end of the ordeal as well. Once you fart around with intuition liners, and over-boots for your doubles you are going to be in it for the same price, but you wont have to screw with your feet at every rest break either. In the end my impression was that I would not purchase a pair. You don't want to be at high altitude with beat up feet and busted laces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Design, Perfect Comfort Wow, these boots fit like a glove ... in other words, great! As soon as I sunk my foot into the boot I knew it was a perfect marriage between man and perfect craftsmanship. Much, much ... much more comfortable then other mountaineering boots I've used in the past. I normally wear a size 12 in hikings boot so I called up and ordered a 47. I'm glad I went a full size larger. Can't wait to take these boots out into the eliminates and give them a run for their money.

they only come in yellow? dude! come on!

Asked by: elephant rooster
Hiya Elephant Rooster, thanks for your question! All of the boots that La Sportiva designs for extreme mountaineering come in a variation of red, yellow or black coloring... or in a combination of those colors. This is because of brand visibility and recognition. Sorry about that!

1- Is it new product? I meant it is used or not?  2- year of production?

Asked by: Arash
Thanks for the question! All of our products are brand new. We do not sell anything that has been used. The boots we currently have in stock are from 2015. I hope this helps!
