"best like a beast" 06/03/13
i bought these boots about 2 months ago. from the second i put them on, i knew that they were the ones for me. i do alot of hiking and backpacking in rain and dry weather. the main thing is the gor-tex. picture yourself out on a hiker or just on a walk and you step in a puddle of water ankle high. what happens? your whole foot and sock gets wet. on my first hike, i stepted in puddles ankle high about 12 time. my socks in my boot were dry like the desert. they cover your ankle so you do not trist it and are very comfortable. i can't wait to get my next pair.
"The best boots ever" 12/24/12
I went climbing Mexico´s third bigest volcano and for a long story left my Alpinist boots at the hotel, but my gide suggested to take my Thunder boots, that he thought they will be "OK", after seen my options I decided to go on with my every day boots, we got to weather under 20 Fahrenheit with winds over 40 miles per hour and the boots were grate, I even got them wet at the glasear, and they kept dry, they and them selves very good with crampons, and in steep hills.Botom line they were asome, if I knew how good they were I would had bought them logn time ago.
"well made, solid, exactly what I was looking for" 12/17/12
I've been living in these boots for the past several days. After a long search for new hiking boots with good ankle support and a rigid feel, I took a chance on these. Your feet feel as though these boots are propelling you up hills. Downhill, you feel stabilized. Great traction and a great look too.
"These are very comfortable, practical boots that will make your feet do the happy dance!" 01/17/12
Okay, so I'm not wearing these boots myself...I bought them for my husband. He has owned several brands of boots, but his favorite is La Sportiva. The last pair, which were very similar to these, finally wore out after about 7 years; the sole detached. He tells me this pair is even more comfortable than those were. His feet stay warm and dry but not too hot, and he can hike, climb ladders, work in the yard and do all the 'honey do' tasks without getting any blisters. They were comfortable right out of the box.
"this model is made in china with lower quality materials, similar but not the same" 11/04/11
i wrote a review earlier speaking highly of the thunder II gtx boot. i wrote that based on my previous experience with the boot. i received my new pair today and although they look the same, they are not. almost as if they used cheaper materials. after comparing new boot to old boot, i noticed they did. my last boot was made in vietnam, this boot was made in china. that should be advertised. i only assumed lasportiva knew better than that. i wont be buying another pair.
"i would recommend this boot for anyone that requires a light boot that doesn't skimp on support" 11/03/11
I hike various rugged terrain, and need a boot that is affordable and can hold up to its fair share of abuse. these boots are by far the best light hiker i have ever worn. they are true to size and require no break in period. the toe box accommodates wide feet comfortably. they can handle a 25lb pack without any loss of stability. the heel support keeps the ankle secure while maintaining a full range of motion and the footbed can withstand a worthy amount of impact without any ankle trouble or discomfort. The vibram sole grips very well on most types of terrain and allows an impressive amount of stealthiness.
"Great boot with no break-in required" 10/08/10
I wore this boot on my motorcycle trip to Alaska this year and I did close to 100 miles on the trails. I didn't have to break it in at all. The only complaint I have is that they are not waterproof at all...found that out when my 28 day trip included 26 days of rain. Maybe because I was riding a motorcycle at speeds up to 85mph, but even hiking they didn't resist any water.
"well worth it" 08/26/10
the quick lace system allows you to be able to wear the boot around town whilst not hiking meaning you don't get a sore ankle from it being super tight. when on the trails thou... it supports your ankle allowing for great stability and control over rocks, gravel, sand WHAT EVER! i was lucky enough to get these boots from a factory and had them resoled once when i wore the sole right out. since then i have bought the exact same pare and they've worn in just as good and just as quick. if you want a good boot and are a bit unsure as to what to go for OR you do want a good boot and know this is it well that what are you doing? this boot is great and will not dissapoint.
"I would definately buy another pair and would highly recommend it." 01/10/10
Being occasional adventurer. I am mostly wearing these boots for trekking and light/medium backpacking. Fit true to size, waterproof, gives great support. Broke into 'em right away from the start.I am fan of La Sportiva, mostly because of the anatomy of my feet. There are some La Sportiva approach models which haven't been build to last, but it works just fine. Thunder GTX are durable and really great. I would definately buy another pair and would highly recommend it.
"Being an occasional adventurer I've found these boots the Perfect Ones!" 01/10/10
Basically I am using these boots for offroad trekking and light/medium backpacking. They support foot very well, fit like glove right away, good looking, waterproof. I would another pair without a doubt.
"Great fit, no need to break in!" 07/07/09
I wear a 2A width and slipped these on and they fit! I usually have to wear two pair of thick socks to get hiking boots to fit, but these are like a glove! The top loop eyelet has a lock so you can pull tight and lock the lace in place before the top laces are done - great feature. They don't require any breaking in. Only problem I can forsee is that the bottoms are a little slicker and may not hold up on slicker surfaces. Will have to test to see!
