"A leather shoe with the edging potential of the Anasazi but a narrower toe box"  12/20/11

I'm a fan of the 5.10 Anasazi great edging power; the gym clearing smell of the shoes, I'm not so psyched on. The Katanas are a lot like the Anasazis: flat last, sensitive yet firm rubber, a great pointed toe for pockets, and a suction-like heal. They're also leather, which means good bye stank! The last-same as the TC Pros-is a little narrower than that of the Anasazi. The result: outside toes are a little more curled, pushing my big toe up against the inside of my shoe. If the Anasazi's a little wide, try these. They aren't perfect. I am more hesitant to smear, perhaps due to the slightly more aggressive toe curl. And the heal cups feel a little less secure when hooking than the Anasazi.

"Great all-day shoe with a killer edge."  08/18/11

I'm really into multi-pitch, and my go-to shoe for moderates is the Mythos. But sometimes the route is simply too much for them, with tiny little edges that my (three-times-resoled) Mythos can't seem to find. This is when I pull out my Katanas. They're aggressive enough to keep you edging on the steep stuff without breaking your foot in half as if you're one of those smelly boulderers. The velcro pads on the shoe are large enough so you can crank the straps multiple ways, allowing for different shaped feet. The uppers are made from a material that doesn't hold odor like other shoes, and they go on and off like a dream. This is a great shoe.

"Get the Miuras"  05/15/11

Spend the extra money and get the miuras. They climb better and in my opinion are more confortable.

"pretty good shoe"  02/15/11

They fit nice and the velcro is great for popping them on and off. I just wish the toe edge were a bit better. They're a great shoe and all but don't really feel more aggressive than my Mythos. I probably shoulda gone with the Miura.

"The Only Shoe I'll Ever Own"  01/12/11

This shoe has progressed my climbing skills to where I am today. This was the third pair of shoes that I've owned and the only La Sportivas, and they are by far my favorites. The Katanas are a great gym shoe, but are just aggressive enough to do some of my favorite projects at the crag. The Vibram rubber is top notch and after a year of hard use the toes are finally starting to wear just a little. They do not turn my feet yellow, they are comfortable strapped or otherwise, and will definitely be resoled when the time comes.

"Freakin Amazing Shoe!"  12/06/10

After having worn Mythos for ages and ages I finally decided to swap to a slightly more aggressive shoe and so after reading reviews I chose these. I ordered a size and a half down from my street shoes because I heard they tend to stretch a bit, and after a period of breaking them in they are just about as comfortable as my Mythos ever were. They are awesome for just about any type of climbing whether indoors in a gym or outside clinging on to the rock. They stick great and have really helped to boost my climbing. Only complaint is that they don't breathe as well as my Mythos did but that's no big deal. The short and long of it is.....I LOVE THEM!

"Freakin Amazing Shoe!"  12/06/10

After having worn Mythos for ages and ages I figured it was about time for something slightly more agressive. I orderd them a size and a half down from my street shoes and after a period of breaking them in they are just about as comfortable as my Mythos. They have been a huge help and are great for just about any type of climbing whether insdorrs in a gym or outside clinging on to the side of a big chunk of rock. Only complaint I've had thus far is that they dont quite breath as well as my Mythos did but thats not really a big deal. The short and long of it is...I LOVE THEM!

"Outstanding Semi-Aggressive Shoes"  12/04/10

These are fantastic shoes for pushing the grade. If you've graduated from the 5.8's and 5.9's and are looking for a new shoe to help you with everything from 5.10's - 5.12's, these are the shoes for you. They are best on vertical to moderately overhanging routes. Of course they will work great on the rest but if sized correctly, they are a bit uncomfortably on less than vertical routes and could be more aggressive on seriously overhanging routes. The best thing I like about these is that they fit low volume feet like mine. I cut off the ends of the straps and I don't have extra velcro getting caught in the rope. I wear a size 8.5-9 street shoe and got these in 38.5 and its perfect.

"Great All-Around Shoe"  12/01/10

The katana is in my opinion the best climbing shoe for what it is made for (All Purpose Shoe). Bouldering or leading a 5.12 these shoes perform. Some people prefer the lace up version better some enjoy the convenience and the feel of the strap version. It's exactly that, preference. I also have a pair of La Sportiva Miura's and I love them too because they are a bit more aggressive. However, the Miura's are a bit painful to wear and I haven't ever had this problem with my Katana's.

"Excellent all-around shoe"  11/29/10

I don't climb outdoors because I live near Detroit where everything is perfectly flat. That disclaimer out of the way, these shoes rock. I wear a 13 in street shoes and sized down to a 44.5. They fit great, nice and tight but not painful. They fit my foot shape very well with a narrower heel but wider forefoot. These shoes improved my climbing overnight. They edge like crazy, can smear with the best of them, and stick like glue on the tiniest toeholds. Plus, they look sweet. Do yourself a favor and put these Italian stallions on your feet!
