Moosejaw Staff Pick
"When it comes to lightweight yet aggressive trail running shoes, you don't get much better than the La Sportiva Fireblade. It wins awards for a reason. With its low profile design, the Fireblade brings your heal closer to the ground, offering exceptional trail stability while the Rock Guard midsole creates force filed-like protection from the stones and roots along the way. Designed for a more neutral (higher and more rigid) arch type, the Fireblade is perfect for the nimble runner who is looking to shave some time off their next trail marathon."

"Lead boots" 07/29/11
I returned the shoes, going thru all the hell at the Fed Ex office for filling that stupid box with papers from a dumpster. The shoes are real nineteen century diver boots, learning you hard lesson about gravity. Forget about walking green pathways, welcome discomfort. Designed by the Marquis de Sade.
"Love this Shoe" 07/07/11
I've slackpacked over 200 miles of the AT in these badboys and they're still super-comfy and holding together. I bought these from Moosejaw and can proudly say there's no buyer's remorse here.P.S. Both colors look great!
"Light and very comfortable." 05/04/11
I'm on my third pair of fireblades and they're a great shoe. I agree with the other people suggesting ordering a half size up, I bought my first pair in my normal size and they were too small. I run in my newest pair and hike in the slightly older pair, the shoes work great for both. The shoes have a smaller tread, so if you're running on snow or very loose and muddy conditions you may want something with a more aggressive tread, but for average trails they work great and don't pack up with mud or rocks.
"This shoe is light and durable" 03/24/11
I have had this shoe for a few weeks and I have taken them running once. They are very stable yet light. However I live in Minnesota and there is still ice, and these shoes are terrible on ice. They dry very quickly and look great. I usually wear size 10 and the 43.5 work great. Overall, they are my new favorite shoes.
"Best shoe ever" 08/31/10
I run trails and hike with my dog, Tiger. My La Sportive Fireblades are the best shoes ever! I have also used Montrail, Lafuma and Salomon shoes. Although the lacing system on the Fireblades is real old-school, they excel in every other way. Very light and nimble, without a lot of padding. I can hike/run all day and never get sore feet. They work for me because they hold my heel firmly while having a wide, comfortable toebox. I do advise ordering a half a size larger. I wear a 9 1/2 American size which equates to a 42.5 Euro size. I ordered 43 and thy fit perfectly. The Orange color ones are awesome. Moosejaw was the only site that had my size in Orange.
"I may have had a foot-gasm in the Fireblade." 12/13/09
I have been loyal to the Salomon trailrunners for a while because I like the way they fit me, and I really like the Gore-Tex for those wet muddy runs. I decided to branch out and I bought the Fireblade shoes and man oh man am I glad I did. The toebox is a little bit wider than what I'm used to, but that's OK because I have a wide foot, and they're built really well, they're very light, and they felt really good on a a cold run they other day in the woods on some mostly frozen trail. For muddy days, I'll stick with my heavy Salomons, but on dry or frozen days, these are my new ponies. It's good to branch out sometimes. LTM.
"Great trail runners!" 04/30/08
This was my irst time ordering shoes online-reading comments helps a lot -based on buyer reviews I ordered a half-size large normally 8.5, got a 9 and they were perfect. Took them for a 5 mile run and it was love at first feel. Very stable, but really light feeling at he same time. I've used them in sand, rocks, and mud and it's done well everywhere. I'm thinking of getting another pair for when these wear out... Haven't used them on the road ad probably won't.
"i would buy them again.. but they appear indistructable" 03/04/08
great shoes. i used them for three weeks hiking in the backcountry of alaska and in wyoming. they are very durable. the bottom part of the sole is sturdy and the inside conforms to your foot nicely. the heel/ ankle area is unique because it provides stability, yet allows full mobility. the laces are strong, which is something that i have not found to be true on other shoes. they are extremely light, yet incredibly strong i highly recommend them. go raiders
