"Great approach shoes, for ultralight expedition and occasional tecnical climbing"

Whit this shoes I can throw the classic "stupid" Hiking shoes of 3 pounds one, Whit this I can run whit my backpack and go faster to before. This shoes is a running tipe, without any type of ankle stability support, then it need to have a very good and very trained ankles and calfs for increase your stability, you must to be accustumed with low shoes on difficult terrain, otherwise disasters happen.recommended for trail trained runners who seek light and fast approach for winter expedition.
When Asics discontinued the Trabuco GTX a few years ago, I was left looking for a replacement for a long-time favorite trail runner. This is it, no doubt. I love the built-in gaiter and the weight is good for a solid shoe. I haven't destroyed them yet, despite my best efforts on the scree and the muck of the Cascades. I'll buy another pair when I need to replace these. Full Disclosure, I've participated in the Gore MountainTechs project since 2007, but I had to buy these myself. I'd do it again, too...
"One crap shoe for the price of great shoe + good gaiter"

Basically, it is a CrossLight shoe (which is great!) with attached gaiter - that looks like a good idea. Unfortunately, implementation appeared to be complete crap. The gaiter simply does not work but could not be removed.I could not find CrossLight for my wife and this one was on sale. Though, I wanted to give a try. After two attempts (~20 miles each) my wife asked me to cut the gaiter off.
Bomber construction throughout. Out of the box trail run of about 12 miles with no hotspots or rocks (the built-in gaiter rocks). The lugs are tall and aggressive and provided more than adequate traction on gravel/snow. The fit is sock-like and conforms to the foot. Shoe is lightweight and fast. Heel was locked in very well. I ordered a 44.5. Wear Asics size 11 for comparison. I have wide feet and still no hotspots on the sides of my feet. Solid suspension and cushioning and very comfortable. Bottom-line: buy 2 pairs, one for show and one for running, these are the best shoes I've ever bought.
